Well we all pretty much know there will be one. But will he actually have something to do w/ the story. Will his helpers come and give us items as we progress like in FRLG. Or will he just sit around and have no effect on us.

What do you think? And what will he/she research?

Helpers were always there, though in Gen III his helper was your rival and in Gen II you were his helper.

I think another thing we should discuss is what s/he will research, as research subject sums up the gen the professor is in.

Oak researched Pokémon/human relationships. His gen was first gen.

Elm researched breeding. Breeding was introduced that gen.

Birch researched habitats and distubition. Gen III was mostly a fresh start, with new region, mostly new Pokémon who has no relation with past ones and many different habitats nad mostly water routes.

Rowan researched evolution. Gen IV, I don't think I need to tell that.

Their name will be Prof. Willow, and they will research... err... well, unless Gen5 brings a new element to the game... what is there left to research?!

The new professor might be a philosoper. I'm half-serious.

But I want to see a female professor. Women can have brains, GameFreak.

Professor Pine will study... um... Pokemon abilities. Would work if this gen ditches HM's.

I third or fourth the female professor motion. Would be a good change of pace.

Perhaps they can research battle abilities, then wind up as the champion or something? Wouldn't that be cool? Oak was considered as a candidate for the original champion, but that fell through... why haven't they flirted with that idea again?

I fourth the notion of a female prof. on a side note GF will never ditch HM's

He probably comes when I defeat the Elite Four.

I think it would be nice to have a female prof.
On the topic of technology, it would be pretty cool for her to research how to make new technological pokemon like porygon, MANMADE!

I'm definitely for a female Professor named Willow or Pine.

I eighth(?) the female professor idea. Her research could be centered around the way Pokemon react to human civilization expansion.

Or would that also be considered Pokemon/technology interaction?

Has there been a professor that studies the biological relationship between humans and pokemon?

^ No there hasn't been one as of yet but who knows

All Four will come together and Work on the meaning of life.

All throughout the games, you hear a crapload of characters constantly talking about the "relationship between Pokemon and humans", and you also got alot of 'em researching into the past like Cynthia, and a few others. So, here's what I'd want:

- A female professor who not only studies the symbiotic relationship between Pokemon and humans, but also studies the history behind it and the ancient civilizations as well. For once have the Professor tell you to go do some wothwhile investigating in some ruins, instead of said ruins just being a little site-seeing pitstop along the way.

Id rather have the profesor study something new than have one who's studies are a fusion of Cynthia & Professor Oak (what you suggest), that would totally steal their thunder.

The new professor should study pokemon natures!!!
