Isshu Region starts at Route 1. But does that mean classics like ponyta, geodude, onix, zubat, maybe magikarp and more pokemon that lived through Generations. If Isshu Region is far how far is it to classics?

there will defos be places to catch those classics, every game to this point has had them at the start, so they will at least be at the end

It would be nice to go without the "classics" this gen. ._. As much as I love you, Zubat, I'd love you even more if you stay out of the caves of Isshu.

You don't know that. Pokemon from the other regions are rare in Isshu.

eh, Doesn't seem like a big deal to me, just the fact that the city is a safety hazard being located as Seattle and having a desert right behind you sort of gives no escape to a fire.

IMO, New Pokemon will be fine on there own for me, the classics are just there to make you remember where it started

Honestly, I would welcome a break from the pokemon that have been in their dex since their debut. A cave free of geodude, zubat, and machop would be my favourite cave in the series. I like all of them but I get more than sick of running into them.

But who knows, even if they took them out of those places, they might still be in the regional dex. Pikachu is only native to Kanto, it was in Kanto in gen 2 and HGSS despite being in the Johto dex, in the safari zone in RSE, and in the Trophy Garden in DPPt so it was imported into the latter two sets of games. A game without that little yellow rat in the regional dex would be a dream come true but thanks to his being the version mascot we all know that won't happen. We'll have to wait and see about the others though, here's hoping we get a break from them.

If there are literally no old Pokemon in the regional dex, then we'll be getting the biggest batch of new Pokemon ever. To equal the smallest of the regional dexes (Kanto and pre-Platinum Sinnoh), we'd need 151 new Pokemon.

I think this is a very real possibility: We've seen absolutely no old Pokemon in screenshots so far (with the exception of the dream world, and legendaries transferred over to activate events). In addition, we've seen Pikachu in the dream world. This seems to be a hint that that's where we'll be able to catch Pikachu. And if they're putting any old Pokemon in the regional dex, you'd at least expect them to include Pikachu.

Now, there may well be a post-Elite 4 area in addition to the dream world where non-local Pokemon can be caught... if memory serves, this has consistently been a standard feature as far back as FRLG. Note that even an entirely new regional dex wouldn't preclude new evos or prevos either... they'd just be limited to the postgame, as in DP

To be honest, I'd sooner have some oldbies around, just because I like to have a big regional dex, and I can't quite see Gen V giving us 200 new Pokemon. Then again, if we have the dream world relatively early in the game, that might well double as a useful expansion to the local population.

If there really are no old Pokemon in the game, then it would not make any difference to me, because to me, the old Pokemon is there to accompany the environments in the game. Although, I will still want some old Pokemon in the game, if it is for the sake of a new evolution method and a new Pokemon related to the old one to accompany it, or some old Pokemon. I would also support a large Pokedex (of new Pokemon) for this region, though. I am not sure, but I thought I saw a screenshot with Meowth in it, even though I don't exactly remember if it's true that Meowth will return here.

It is plausible to be able to catch old Pokemon in dreams, to have old Pokemon around though.

I'd rather not see Geodudes and Zubats all the way through.

That being said, I want a way to go over the equivalent of Mt. Moon.
