I've noticed that we seem to discard older sugimori artwork of Pokémon in favor of newer ones. Is this right? Personally, I think it would be good to add older artwork of the Pokémon somewhere on their pages, or perhaps in the archives.

Umm...I know we hate Wikia, but they have these "Galleries" on their articles right before Trivia. In the galleries, they post all the pictures they have for it.
Example;
==Gallery==
(Insert names of images here)

==Trivia==
(Insert interesting facts here)

We're not gonna make more galleries... that'd be a bad idea. Older Sugimori artwork, great, but we're not gonna put EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF ART EVER.

All articles that need it have it. Think of how it would be if we posted all the Dawn pics that people have uploaded on the archives onto her page:/

Gold's article on Bulbapedia has it <3

It's not "all the images of Dawn", it's just the ones drawn by Ken Sugimori.

Gold's a place where it can work.

I wouldn't object to the RG and FRLG art of Gen I, and the GS and HGSS art of Pokémon if it were set in the article in the same way as it is with Gold (off to the side and without fanfare).

'cause then the editors would probably have to probe through the pages to make sure that the pictures don't muck up the format of the article. Plus, there would probably have to be a suitable place to mention the older version of the pictures, such as the importance of such a pokemon in an older game or original episode.

Why don't you have the generational on a rotating schedule like you do the damn form-change pokémon? =P Because, you know, it's not invasive enough just to have those certain ones with alternate art be the only ones you're forced to deal with.
