Ready to discuss the best-selling manga of all time? Welcome aboard!
Some general stuff:
Sub fans:
* All the One Piece episodes (except for DBZ crossover) are available on Crunchyroll for free. (limited regions)
* You can also find the subbed episodes on FUNimation's website.
Dub fans:
* FUNimation has been (re)dubbing the show since 2007.
* So far, first 384 episodes (along with movie 8, Strong World and Film Z) have been dubbed in English.
* Season 7 (385-456) has now been licensed and 385-396 (Season 7 Voyage 1) will be out July 14.
* OP is also a part of Adult Swim's Toonami block. Currently airs at 2:30 a.m. on Saturdays (technically, Sunday).
* One Piece Broadcast dub is currently in talks, according to Josh Kocurek (FUNimation's brand manager for One Piece).
Manga readers:
* One Piece, along with other series, gets a simultaneous English release in VIZ's WSJump.
** The official version is translated by one of the best translators around, Stephen Paul. He is also a regular guest on the One Piece Podcast and talks about some behind the scenes translation stuff for the chapters.
** If you're interested, Stephen started working on OP from volume 65. He did work on one chapter for volume 64 for testing purposes.
** Alexis Kirsch is the current Editor for the English One Piece.
* Why do they still use Zolo? An annoying issue and VIZ is aware of it. However, there is some licensing issue behind the whole thing. It was Zolo even before 4Kids licensed it. However, FUNi somehow managed to get permission to use Zoro.
* Overall, Viz's translation is pretty good (Stephen's is definitely the best English translation that you can find).
Already a fan/new One Piece fan and want to support the series?
* For English fans... FUNimation is handling the series in North America, Manga UK in UK and Madman in Australia.
* If you haven't started buying the series yet, then:
** For anime people - Collection Treasure Chests (from FUNimation - 100+ episodes)
** For manga readers - Go for One Piece Box Sets (23 volumes per box set)
Please feel free to ask, if you have any questions.
