Japanese Episode 147: "A Pirate's Height! The Man who Talks of Dreams and the King of Underwater Exploration"
English Episode 108: "Distinguished Pirates! A Man Who Talks of Dreams and the King of Undersea Search!"

Cartoon Network, 10:00pm ET
Zoro, Nami, and Luffy meet a famous pirate before leaving Mock Town to get more information about getting to Sky Island. Afterwards, they get into a fight with Masira's brother, Shojo...

The bar fight is mostly uncut, however Luffy and Zoro's faces were both originally rather bloody, which was cleaned up quite a lot in the dub. Certain scenes showing nothing but blood splatter were unsurprisingly cut, as a clean wall is not particularly interesting to watch.

Some annoying edits were done later on, with all references to Chopper's "points" being deleted, and Usopp's "Hissatsu Ketchup-boshi" (covering his chest in ketchup to pretend he's dead, hillarious stuff) was removed as well. Come on, FUNi, I can understand removing blood, but Usopp very specifically explained how the blood-looking substance was indeed ketchup.

In addition, "PUB and pies" is renamed "SODA and pies".

So...is this really it? In every other forum I go to, these talkbacks get about three pages before the night's end. Yet we can barely manage to get three posts!?

Is this a sign that we should just stop with these threads?

The edits we see are mostly CN's edits. Still, why cut out Usopp's scene when Donald Duck did the exact same thing just as an example. CN also seems to have decided to leave out the eyecatch (convinently using a two break structure) and the preview. We can't delay another exciting DBZ repeat.

So, they have microphones but no sound detection equipment? Man is the technology on this show inconsistant. Though, that one of the things that makes it funny.

It's nice to hear them called the Warlords of the Sea. I forget what 4Kids called them but it wasn't Warlords.

Bellamy shows his true nature. He's a lazy bastard who sits in pubs and what for someone to talk about treasure and then goes after it himself instead of searching. I guess as long as he gets his loot I guess.

I think that they were called "Warlords" in the 4Kids version.

I enjoyed this episode very much. The violence edits are no where near as bad as we used to have. So I can live with them (and count on CN eventually lightening up on edit demands as they did with Naruto.)

FUNi did a great job with the Usopp/Chopper scene. "Bite me!"
Blackbeard's speech was epic. Nami's tantrum was also fun.

Bellamy is such a perfect jerk,
I can hardly wait to see
Donquixote Doflamingo, and Enel.

This episode was also the first one to be rated TVPG.
I hope this will help with CN getting less anal over the violence and such.

I think they just called them "Lords" in the 4Kids version. Not a terrible edit (especially considering their other edits).

I wouldn't take it personally, it's Bulbagarden. Almost every thread that has a correspondant on another Forum (the Smash Brother Thread) is alot smaller.

Maybe they can be combined or something into a One Piece Review thread.

I don't know, when they get to sky island and the story gets a little more interesting, I think the popularity can go up more, but right now, I can come in every week, but essentially I'd say the same thing each time about liking the dub a little more each episode.
