Japanese Episode 145: "Monsters Appear! Don't Touch the Whitebeard Pirates!"
English Episode 106: "Monsters Appear! Don't Mess with the Whitebeard Pirates!"

Cartoon Network, 10:00pm ET
As the salvage of the St. Briss continues, the Straw Hat Pirates decide to head to Jaya Island to get more information on getting to Skypeia. Meanwhile, Luffy's older brother, Portugas D. Ace, has a run-in with Buggy and his pirate crew...

So, the pirate 4Kids recolored from black to white (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1e/OnePieceedit.jpg) Seen here...was kept black. I love you Funimation.

They kept the eye catches....I have never seen that before in a dub. I must honestly say, I am impressed by this dub...

Although...Ace was still Trace...but he'll be Ace on the DVD, as well as Zolo being Zoro?

I was out last week so I missed the first episode.

FUNi has done a great job (as other said in the previous discussion [if only PUSA hadn't been cheap and handed the Pokemon dub over to FUNi or Viz]). Full openings and endings there were very good and a proper next episode preview.

I'm glad Buggy has stopped eating helium balloons too. Though his appearance seemed random as I haven't seen the last few episodes. But what a time to pick up this series again. I'm with those who say FUNi needs to go back and redub the series.

Supposedly so.
I missed the first episode, but managed to catch this one, and it's very well done, with the OP dub being made of pure win, and the EDbeing mostly good - fall out of sync near the end, though, and ends up sounding rather weird, but that's probably mostly due to me being a lot more familiar with the original.

This episode was mostly one of those "random stupid shit and not much plot" episode One Piece does very well, and 4Kids mostly cut, to my knowledge, and the humor made it over to the dub very well - Good job, FUNi. Very funny episode.
And hey, they even said "kill". Did they ever do that in the 4Kids dub?

Not a huge fan of neither Zoro or Luffy's voices, which are both a bit too deep, but at least they're better than before. Usopp is fantastic.

Yup.

Eh...there's not really anything in the last few episodes that would lead up to Buggy and Ace reappearing.

They plan to...eventually. But I think they have to wait for Viz's home video rights to the series to expire first. That should happen in 2009.

So, a new episode, huh? Cool! I know I've said this like five times now, but I used to shun One Piece with all the hatred I'd ever given a show.

Now...I watched that "Caught Log! King of Salvagers, Masira!" episode at least four times within the last three days. XD I can't wait to see this one.

Indeed, they actually kept the eyecatchers! I was very happy, I was very very happy! I am just glad that I was home from work in time to catch this episode, although I had seen it before. I am just happy with the general opinion of this new dub, seems very positive. Hell, some people say now that they feel like they don't have to feel ashamed to admit to liking OP now. It's nice that this show is actually being treated with respect, and not like some nursery school shit. I have probably said this a million times in my life, but I will say it again (and again many times in the future of course): Fuck 4kids.

Well, I've my qualms, but they're probably nick-picky. It's just.... I never dreamed I would say this but I miss David Moo. =( I don't even have any emotional attachment to Sanji, and I'd pick Moo over Eric Vale within a heartbeat. And that's just sad. He might've sounded awful, but he had the Suave that Vale really doesn't. Not yet, anyway. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

As for the episode.... *_* so what the series should be. You could feel it, especially in certain lines you know wouldn't have been there originally. Almost made me wonder what 4Kids would have done with the skull scene.

I liked the last episode a lot more than the first one. So I guess I'm just getting use to the voices. I'm pretty happy about them, but I still think Sanji does sound kind of plain and Zoro too deep. Maybe as time goes by they will refine their voices like in Dragonball and all the other series they worked on.

It's a great episode, although, as Natsu said, adjusting to the new voices is tough. I don't like Chopper's voice. Sanji sounds younger, and Luffy sounds older.

Ugh. David Moo was absolutely TERRIBLE as Sanji. At least Eric Vale sounds like an actual HUMAN BEING and not the "Dr. Girlfriend with a head cold" thing we got from Mr. Moo.

The only voices I really have a problem with in the new dub are Usopp (he sounds way too much like Krillin, and I hate the way dub Krillin sounds) and Luffy (it's too forced). And Zoro. Everyone else, though, is really really good. I particularly liked Buggy's new voice because it really sounded like he was spiriting a bit of Mark Hamill's Joker with his performance.
