One type combination that's long been overdue...

...is Fire/Dragon.

Seriously, ever since Red and Blue, I've been annoyed that there is no Fire/Dragon type, and have been praying for one ever since. As new generations of Pokémon would be introduced over the years, I would repeatedly say to myself, "Hmmm, maybe finally there will be a Fire/Dragon Pokémon." But I would then be disappointed to see the absence of a Fire/Dragon-type.

Why do I care about this so much? Well, first of all, don't dragons breathe fire? When I think of dragons, that's one of the first things that I think of -- breathing fire. So pairing up Dragon with Fire would make a lot of sense.

Plus, Fire is my favorite type, because a lot of Fire-type Pokémon just look so awesome, something that I have felt ever since the minute that I picked Charmander in Red. A Fire/Dragon Pokémon would be even more awesome, because it would look so powerful.

Besides, Fire and Dragon go fairly well together. Dragon cancels out the Water weakness, which would make this the only Fire-type that is not weak to Water. And Fire cancels out Dragon's biggest weakness, Ice. That would leave it with being weak to Rock, Ground, and Dragon, the latter of which is somewhat rare anyway. And since having Levitate wouldn't be too, uh, Farfetch'd for a dragon with wings, that would eliminate the Ground weakness too.

Another thing is that in the past two generations, there have been so few new Fire-types. Gen III had very few new ones (only 6, counting the starters), and I remember back then that this annoyed me a lot, and that I was hoping that Gen IV would fix this problem. But it was even worse in Gen IV, with even less new Fire-types (only 5, counting the starters!!!). Hell, in D/P, Flint, who was supposed to specialize in Fire-types, only had 2 Fire-types out of his 5 Pokémon, which was an absolute joke. (Thankfully they rectified that in Platinum...)

So, in Gen V, if a Fire/Dragon Pokémon were introduced, this would somewhat make up for Game Freak's mistake of introducing so few Fire-types in the last two generations. Of course, introducing more than 5 would really help, but seeing a Fire/Dragon one would make me happy.

Finally, this would actually be cool as a legendary, with maybe a complimentary Ice/Dragon (another type that hasn't yet been introduced and would be a nice combo as well) legendary to accompany the Fire/Dragon. Of course, all of this is just speculation, but wouldn't it be totally awesome if this were true?

Don't we have threads on this? We must, since I've mentioned this in them.

Dragon's "biggest" weakness being replaced by another powerful offensive typing that it was once immune to? Not to mention the loss of fighting resistance that most dragon types have. Yeah, Garchomp doesn't have that fighting resistance, but makes up for it by being defensively superior and gaining STAB Earthquake.

If we're talking about canceling out it's weaknesses, keeping it as a pure dragon with levitate (since even the wingless oriental dragons can fly) works even better. The only reason Ice is its greatest weakness is due to its combination with other typings, and honestly, combining it with any other type works just as well.

Dragon really isn't rare when in competitive play, you're bound to come up against one of the 600-stat dragons 90% of the time.

Kingdra fixed the Ice thing already. But I get what you're saying. I agree a Fire/Dragon would be cool. I put one up on another thread.

Would this be possible for the Fire starter? Starts off as a little runt of a worm, then turns into a slug, then turns into a pwning dragon.

there are a couple type combinations that should be added
if they make a fire dragon it would only be fair to make
grass/dragon
ice/dragon
electic/''
and so on

and i'd love to see more dark combinations
dark/fighting, bug, psychic, dragon

I think the idea for legendaries is good. There could be a trio of fire/dragon, ice dragon, and electric dragon. Yes, I know it sounds like zapdos, moltres, and articuno but that was my favorite legend trio.

Fire/Ice. No seriously we're way too overdue with it.

I just can't see a starter being half Dragon type it won't work It'll be resisted from the other two types.

Fire/Dragon would be best as a pseudo-legendary, I think. I mean I just can't picture a dragon type starter at all... While were talking about type combos that should be done, I'd like to see them do a Fire/Psychic. Just more Fire types in general would be nice, really. And less Water and Grass types, for fuck sakes!

Grass/Fire would be neat. (Pepper). Electric/Dark is one I want. I always thought Shinx's line was going to be one when it was first revealed.

Yeah, I kind of thought that too.

I'd like more useful Grass types, less water, hell yes.

This generation needs WAY MORE Ghost, Dark, Fire and Dragon types in general. They are all pretty neglected (Maybe less so Dragon, but still.)
