One year ago, we lost Maddie Blaustein...

Re: One year ago....

I can't believe it's already been a year since it happened.

It's kind of a shame that she'll never get to return to voice a character, I know quite a few of the 4kids VAs did. It would have been nice for her to voice someone though.

Wow it's already a year...damn :(

R.I.P.

I wasn't around for when it happened, but it's still sad how young she was. I'm atleast happy she apparently died peacefully, but still...R.IP Maddie. Your talent is missed.

Re: One year ago....

I can't believe it's already been a year. Usually I'm not affected by the deaths of celebrities or public figures, I can stop with just missing their contributions and appreciating them as entertainers, but something was different about Maddie for me.

I cried for a very long time when I found out. I think it's because even though I didn't know Maddie, I knew Meowth. As much as I love Team Rocket...eh.

R.I.P. Maddie, you took a major part of my childhood with you when you left :(

Re: One year ago....

Honestly, I can't believe it's already been a year since she died. It feels like yesterday that I was lurking here and SPPf and found those horrible threads...

Her death had a huge impact on me. When I first found out, I just broke down and cried for hours. I still feel sick whenever I think about what happened to Maddie. She didn't deserve to die. I may have not known her personally, but she had so much talent and from what I've heard, she was a wonderful person. She was way too young, and her death was all too sudden and too soon. When she died, it's like she took Meowth along with her...as well as a huge part of my childhood.

Hope you're doing good up there in heaven, Maddie. We of the Pokemon fandom love you, and you will be forever missed. :[

Re: One year ago....

Rest in peace, Maddie.

Given that I'm one of the biggest detractors of the dub to ever set foot in the "Pokémon" fandom, Blaustein's death didn't really affect me at all. However, I'll always remember her - not for Meowth, but for the pirate guy from Pokémon the First Movie, and his hilariously bad delivery of "OH NOOOOO!!!". It was an unintentional laugh, but hey, when you're talking 4Kids, that's the best you can hope for.

Rest in peace, Maddie. You never came close to Inuyama Inuko, but dammit, at least you tried. Which is more than I can say about most of the people you worked with.

Re: One year ago....

*shakes her head* It's always sad (though I never found celebrity deaths particularly mournful), but I've got more important people to miss over Maddie. You guys go ahead though.

Re: One year ago....

I can't believe the fact she died entirely bypassed me last year, my thoughts go out to her family. I agree about the pirate, I wonder if he was meant to be as funny as he actually was?

Re: One year ago....

She was a passionate woman who gave a life and personality to the characters that we loved to watch. I will miss her, not because she was a celebrity, but because she was a person who loved what she was doing and enjoyed entertaining others.

I also liked her version of Kurena from one piece.

Re: One year ago....

As a useless lurker last year when I saw the threads here and at Sppf, I never got to say RIP. But you are well loved and well missed Maddie, even a year on. I hope you're having a good time wherever you are!

Re: One year ago....

RIP.

I found out about her death at school... I was checking out Bulbapedia at school, and found out.

:(

I read she tried to emulate Inauyama's scream and did watch the Japanes episodes.

I do prefer the Japanese version, but I wouldn't have gotten into Pokemon if it hadn't been for the 4Kids cast of Pokemon, with Maddie being one of my favorites (Ikue Ohtani being my most favorite due to playing Pikachu, but she's a part of every cast, so yeah). I remember reading the threads and finding the threads about the news. The board was red and green just like now.

RIP Maddie. You were one of the best and couldn't be replaced as Meowth. As a little tribute, I'm posting a little quote that someone else made up and that I saved because it was cute and sad at the same time. Whoever made it up, please step forward; your quote was great:

"A thousand Meowth are looking up at the night sky with tears in their eyes. None of them will be looking for loose change tonight.

A thousand condolences to all Maddie Blaustein fans. She will be missed forever more. Maddie Blaustein 1960-2008"

RIP, Maddie... we miss you dearly. At least, I know I do. She was really my favorite.

Whenever I want to remember her, I turn on this talking Meowth toy I've owned since forever. It's comforting.
