Welcome to Nadent!

"Pokémon Kingdom" is a Pokémon fangame/project I am working on along with a friend that is similar to a kingdom builder game like CRK! This project was first thought up back in December of '23, and was heavily worked on during '24. Development was slowed down during '25, but has recently been picked back up again.

Before anything, I feel like I should say a few things before I talk about what this actually is.
This blog will be mostly talking about the lore and story of PK, however game features will be frequently discussed here and there.
No actual game has been made yet, due to my lack of game development skills. So, everything you see here is a bunch of concepts that will probably be scrapped later on (because I am very incompetent, if that's the word to describe it).
The lore may be inconsistent with canon Pokémon lore, mostly due to this being an AU of sorts and also I am very dumb...
This project mentions violence at some points, however it's not extremely detailed and is moreso left vague than anything else.

About Pokémon Kingdom
The story takes place in Nadent, a super-region similar to Pangea consisting of all the regions in Pokémon. Many many years ago, a war between humans and Pokémon broke out, and the humans were the one that lost. Pokémon slowly took their place as they learned to speak the human languages and build civilizations of their own. One day, you, a human, wakes up in Nadent, and meet the Lake Trio. Together, you set out on an adventure to get yourself home, and make a civilization of your own!
The game is set in different chapters, all taking place in a different (sub)region. Chapter 1 takes place in Kanto, Chapter 5 is in Unova, you get it...
The prologue takes place in the tiny original region of Kaleka, which is notable for having the very first Pokémon civilization! It is basically more of a tutorial chapter than anything honestly...

That's pretty much it, really. I might edit this post more in the future, but I think I have all of it down by now!
(Pls tell me if I did somehting wrongn cuz i feel like i did fur some reason... sob sob)

Feel free to comment on here! I welcome just about anybody to talk about this project. :wynaut:

I was thinking about discussing a lot of old concepts that I removed and/or replaced while I was typing this up. So now that I'm finished, I might as well do so, eh?

The Beta Protagonist -
While I still really don't have a clear design (or name for that matter) for the current protagonist, I want to talk about the old ones.
It was supposed to be a "pick your gender thing", having male, female and non-binary options, but the current one is androgynous, and you can pretty much customize them fully due to the move from 2D to 3D in recent times.
Male - Kenji, black hair covering one eye, black eyes, light beige newsboy cap and overalls, white sweater
Female - Natsuki (the more iconic one to me and my friend), long light brown hair, brown eyes, brown cardigan with a gold pokeball badge, blue skirt, black leggings and grey sweater
Non-binary - Mizuki, platnium blond bob, red tired eyes, cardigan similar to that of Natsuki's, white shirt, long grey pants

Amane Kirisame -
Oh boy... where do I begin...
Amane was supposed to be the "professor" of the game. She was a self-insert for me since she was obsessed with Nadent and all that...and plus, she was just a gateway to insert my OCs that nobody cared about in the game since she was one of my OCs in disguise. I could go on about how terrible she was as a character but I'd be here all day.

These next two ones aren't ones that I scrapped/replaced but ones I'm considering on doing so or aren't sure what to do with them yet.

Nadental Miraidon -
This one is pretty cool, so I might keep it!
Nadental Miraidon is basically Miraidon but in Nadent instead, although it looks more like Koraidon than anything.
For some reason, they're really similar to Tropius, since I randomly gave them a banana aesthetic.
They're a hunter of sorts, and serve as one of the active threats in the project, making their first appearance in Chapter 9.

Oberon/Eien Hoshi -
My friend came up with this one!
They appeared in Chapter 7, disguising as an Ultra Beast originally. However, that probably got scrapped or forgotten about, I can't tell.
They were another human like the protagonist, and they befriended them, but however...they died... (for some reason the spoiler wouldn't appear so I just have to flatout spoil it :C)
Dunno what to do with them for now...

:V

Most chapters don't have a set story yet, but the prologue and Chapter 8 do.

PROLOGUE

Sub-Region: Kaleka:
"Welcome to Nadent"
After the "dream" with a mysterious entity, you awaken in Nadent. You fall out of a giant tree, and land in front of the Lake Trio. This chapter is filled with tutorials and introductions.

CHAPTER 8

Sub-Region: Galar
"A Fairytale of Falsehoods"
You and the Lake Trio arrive in Galar after defeating Necrozma, and it seems the news has spread to everywhere else, along with other old news you've heard from the other regions. In the Slumbering Weald, a Galarian Ponyta is seen trying to summon something(s). They say that they are trying to summon "The Two Knights", Pokemon of great interest among the small town of Powpow. Suddenly, everything is interrupted when a Dragapult claims to be the "reincarnated Guardian of Galar" and "Protector of the Two Knights". G!Ponyta immediately senses something is up, so you, the Lake Trio and the Ponyta investigate. Underneath what would seem like a simple scandal, lies centuries old legends and secrets...

These probably will change. Who knows.

oberon / eien hoshi was forgotten, we haven't added much to their character

It's kind of crazy looking back on a lot of old stuff I did for PK. It's pretty much a (somewhat) crazy contrast between then and now. I already went over some of it in my post about scrapped or forgotten ideas, but note that I said "some".

Haywire over there had said in the rather early days of PK that the Ultra Beasts (except Xurkitree and I think Blacephalon) should be kind to the protagonist, but as we went on, ALL the UBs were hating (somewhat) the protagonist.

Some smaller stuff that I personally believe shows how much PK changed, the game was originally 2D because I imagined it for mobile devices, but has since become a 3D game (mostly because imagining the world exploration parts of the game in 2D always had it looking awkward, for me anyways. Also because protagonist customization). The game back then also felt like it was heavily relying on the current humor and edginess (although I will admit some dialogue does make me giggle). Not to mention, story felt a lot more... I don't know, clunky back then?

This post is a whole bunch of nothing but I still wanted to share because I was thinking about it for a bit.
