Only 69 Pokemon?

Only 69 Pokemon in X/Y (a.k.a. Generation VI/Kalos)? I was expecting like about 150, and some multi-cross-generational kinds. But it seems to me that it's going to be similar to Unova (only with the total number of Pokemon being half of the previous one). Can someone explain this to me?

Is it possible Yamitora? Did it also happened with the release of Black/White (Generation V/Unova)?

The article (and the tweet) make it extremely clear that the artist's block happened only with Xerneas and Yveltal's designs. So I don't see the relevance.
