What Operating System do you guys use? I use Windows Vista Ultimate on my main computer and Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional set up as a dual boot on my test computer. However, I do own all the Windows operating systems since I'm the tech support guy.

Our main computer uses Vista, but I use XP on my laptop. I must say I really do like Vista, especially because I can have the Zero Punctuation feed on my desktop. However, Vista's "Control Panel?" HATE HATE HATE.

I have Vista on my computer, mainly because I can afford to have it, with my 3GB of RAM and what-not.

Since you use Vista, I want to ask you. Do you get this error about COM Surrogate has stopped working? I've had Vista installed for a month and already I had it tell me this over 100 times now. The control panel is okay, except I don't like how a lot of stuff it so intergrated into it like the graphics and system properties.

Talking about 3 GB of RAM, I'll tell you my hardware specs running Vista.

I have an IBM Netvista 6794KPU computer.
Pentium 4 1.8GHz
768MB RAM
250GB Seagate Barracuda hdd
ATI Radeon 9550 256MB AGP 4X
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
HP DVD Writer with Lightscribe

Actually though, it doesn't perform that bad. But I'm using ReadyBoost with a 1GB flash drive allocating all the space on it.

I've never recieved a message like that, so I don't know what it could be.

I don't have that issue either. It must have something to do with the hardware that you're using.

Possibly, thanks guys. It's very annoying so just hope you don't get it, I ended up turning off error reporting. *Next ^_^

I'm surrounded by just about every iteration of windows from 95 to Vista, but my laptop uses XP Pro. I'm not really fond of Vista, but then again, most of the computers I have are at their limit and XP is all they can handle so Vista isn't even an option.

My sister had Vista, then it all crashed, though I blame the manufacturer for that one. Computer problems aside, working with Vista is just too burdensome. I couldn't even get her networked properly and the properties were all out of order. I think I'm just going to hang on to XP and its dozens of mods for a while.

i have Kubuntu Linux.
Good stuff. That's another one I'm looking forward to using after I saw a friend use it, I just love how it handles.

The thing I like about Vista is because it has Windows Media Center plus a cool Aero interface. If it wasn't for Vista, I'd be using Windows 2000 because that's my favorite OS because it is so rock solid in stability.

Windows XP.

not really interested in upgrading to Vista right now, or anytime soon. I usually don't upgrade OS' until everything starts becoming OS-exclusive.

I know what you mean. It was an absolute nightmare to network Vista to XP at my house. Neworking works much differently on Vista and it was a god-awful hassle, especially because I was doing it ad-lib.

I have multiple computers, one runs Windows Vista Home Basic which is my main computer and another one which is a dual boot running Windows XP Home and Ubuntu Linux version 7.1, yet another one I am repairing runs Windows 98SE.

Vista Home Premium.

After getting my computer back from Gateway, I've noticed an odd stop error bluescreen that pops up after startup. I turned off the Welcome Center, and it hasn't been seen since. :D

Now that's odd. Actually I didn't know you could turn off the welcome screen in Home Premium. At one time I set up a domain at my house so I needed to turn the welcome screen off in order to use it but I have Ultimate. Anyway it sounds like a file is possibly corrupt or there's a conflict. I always like to install my OS though, I hate preloaded stuff unless I do it ^_^

I have a Windows XP on a crappy eMachines, lol
I give a hearty punch to the shoulder of the one who owns the Mac, they are cool for standing out. :)

Yeah, eMachines are infamous for having problems. People are always calling me up to fix their computer and of course it's an eMachines! :D But then I have this Gateway that I have no idea what's wrong with it.

eMachines are finicky, but only require the right touch to keep alive.
My 8 year old eMachines holds solid, bought with WinME upgraded to XP, I think it's still decent (though I should probably give it a ram upgrade, it's slow compared to other things.)
