Opinions on Hikari

How do you feel about Hikari?

We're 21 episodes into D/P now so we've seen quite a bit of Hikari in the anime. I don't think we've had a full thread discussing her yet, so this will be it as a sort of parallel to the Opinons on May thread.

I've come to really like Hikari recently and especially her Pokemon. I think my only disappointments with the character is she doesn't bring anything new to the table in regards to her quest, since we've already seen 16 Contests and two Grand Festivals prior to her introduction. I'd probably be more enthusiastic about her if we were seeing something new rather than what we've seen before, but otherwise I've grown quite fond of Hikari's enthusiastic personality and I'm utterly convinced that she has the best Pokemon team in the history of the entire anime. The next 4 years with her should be sweet, and I hope we get as much screentime of her as possible before her inevitable departure. And that short skirt of hers is definitely icing on the cake.

Gosh. Scott, she's only ten freakin' years old, and you're what? Twenty-freakin'-one now? Get a life. Do you seriously have nothing better to do than stare at some children's cartoon character's skirt?

I like Hikari, but not because she has a short skirt.
 
I love her enthusiastic, confident personality. And her Pokemon have lots of personality too, especially her starter.

Piplup - ego that's much bigger than its little body
Buneary - goes all fangirl-y over Pikachu
Pachirisu - mischievous, hyperactive
 
Yeah, that's why she has the best team in D/P so far. Her Pokemon are the best part about her.
 
That skirt is pretty darn short. But there are other reasons I like her other than that.
Hikari's pretty - it's the combination of her nice hairdo, her nice haircolor and her pretty and creative outfit. I'd just ask her to ditch the hat and/or replace it with a nice red headband.
Hikari's Pokemon - Pachirisu and Pochama are awesome. Pachirisu with it's chipmunk speed (no pun intended) and Pochama wth it's design and it's personality.
Hikari's house - not only is the house giganto, the garden is colorful and her room looks really nice
I dont love her... just not too attached to her - but she's cool.

Okay, I'll divide it into categories.

Looks: I LOVE her hair, so pretty (especially when its down, looks like my real life girlfriend...okay, girl friend...okay, girl aquaintince).

I also like the cute cap and boots.

I really lack the usual male hormones, so I'm not boning over the dress. I do think it's pretty though.

Personality: I love her cute, and spunky personality. Unfortunately, she really hasn't done much yet...so still time left to form an opinion.

I hope she goes away from Misty and May, and becomes her own character.

Rival: Nozomi hasn't done much...but I do like the girlfriend relationship between the two. And Glameow possibly evolving into the sexy Bunyatto is neato also.

Mom: MILF! Actually...she's cute, and she has basis in the game (moreso then the other parents) and a nice backstory. Hopefully we see more of her.

Pokemon: Piplup OWNS YOU. Buneary OWNS...Pikachu. Pachirisu OWNS...hair-stylist? Ah, her team is ok (I love Piplup to death though), I hope her next one is something unexpected...like Hippotas or Fuwante.

Voice: I really like her voice, and I hope she gets a cute one in the dub.

And please, NOA, name her Hollie. It is just SO fitting imo.

I also wouldn't mind Maggie, the fake name some fan put on Wikipedia.
 
I haven't actually seen any of the Diamond/Pearl anime yet, just the opening and ending, so I can't really say anything about her personality or stuff like that, but I think she's cool. I REALLY like her Pokemon (Pachirisu and Buneary are two of my favorites for D/P). She has an interesting look, even though her skirt is a little too short.

I can't wait to see her in the dub.
 
From what I've seen so far, I've enjoyed her. I love her overconfidence, and how she doesn't let things get her down. I think that really sets her apart: early Ash was always angry about his mistakes, early May was always sad about her mistakes. But Hikari doesn't seem to dwell on it, just smiles and moves on. And I loved the way she fought with Ash about that and Brock ended up stepping in. If they keep this sort of character up with Hikari, she'll probably end up being my favorite girl in the series.

It's trivial, but I've been fond of her outfit from the first picture we saw of it... the black, white and pink color scheme works for her and it's a cool design. I think it's probably my favorite of all the female outfits we've seen so far. Though I hate how everyone gets hung up on the skirt, because quite frankly I don't think it's the short skirt that really makes the whole thing work.

And I would be surprised if anyone didn't love her Pokémon, really.
 
Well, I love Hikari. What can I say? She's amazing. Her style is super cute and even though her skirt is wayyyyyyy to short for a ten year old girl, I guess that's what you get for Hikari lacking in ways May didn't, you have to shorten or enlarge something aaaaahahahaha.

Her pokémon and her personality are extraordinary and I like how much or a brat she can be. It's like a real ten-year old girl. As in my sister. She's a brat, but I love her.

Hikari is by far my favourite of the girl characters.

And Habunake . . I thought you were, dare I say it, gay?
 
I think Hikari is the best Female Co-star to star in Pokemon. Also I don't see anything wrong with getting hypnotize by her shirt pink skirt.

This weekend I finally got my season 1 dvd (collection of half the season,grrr.) I found Misty to be a bit moody(like she was on her time of month).

Anyway, That was my Opinion on Hikari, So stick it if don't agree! Just Kidding!
 
I am sure her jailbait short skirt look will be all but gone by the third D/P Season..

She was pissed off at Ash forever after he destroyed her bike, so that's understandable. hahahaha

I'm really happy to see only good input on Hikari so far. Yay! :D

No "I only watch the dub for reasons I can't possibly fathom even though I love the original music and think the music changes and the most annyoing part of the entire franchise, including the fanbase" option? :eek:

From what I've heard, she sounds fun. I hope she doesn't mellow out as time goes on.

Haven't seen enough of her to really comment, but I'm amazed that everyone's awed by the short skirt as though it was news or something. It's so commonplace in anime that I can't see why anyone cares anymore. How many minor characters had them?
