Not a random poll. What is everyone's honest opinion on May?

Initially I didn't mind her at all. But recently, I came to dislike her a lot. Blame the obsessive fanboys and the writers' obsession with giving her way too much spotlight.

That doesn't mean I think she's a bad coordinator, though. She's good. Too bad her personality makes her really bland in my opinion.

May's a nice girl. She annoyed me at first, but I got used to her. She's not an especially deep character, but she gets some really good moments on occasion, usually revolving around Max. I don't like her as much as early season Misty, but she's a HELL of a lot better than late season Misty.

Her fanbase makes me cry, though.

She's OK. I'd rather have a brand new character - especially one that didn't have a tag-a-long walking Pokedex but she's been at the centre of a few good eps so meh.

Although I always have and always will prefer the dynamics of Ash, Misty and Brock.

I dislike her, but 'hate' is an awfully strong word. I don't get mad at her or anything like I do with Harley or Erika, just mildly annoyed sometimes. So I voted 'I hate her', but that's not really accurate. She's just not my kind of character.

Good character. Not my favorite, but certainly not one I mind as a character.

However, she's got a bunch of strikes against her, like the fact that they smother us in her from time to time - heaven forbid they remember the other secondary characters exist - and some of her fans irritate me a lot more than fans of other characters. They don't make me hate her, but they make me tend to root against her.

She's cool.

It's also great that the show has now a more shoujo-ish side to it, especially during the Contest episodes. The writers are now split between shonen and shoujo, and as AG was a huge success, they're done a fantastic job. Yep.

*Holds up battered and bullet ridden "I hate May" sign* SPPf is a cruel mistress.

She is not appealing. At first she was but as she progressed (or didn't progress as I see it) she began to annoy me. I'm not a contest fan either. As far as I'm concerned, she's a great idea that was horribly executed.

Well, since I saw this thread, I guess I should say what I think of lMay.

I think that she's a darn Ash clone. She's too similar to Ash.

Also, she isn't the best thing to happen to the series.

Plus, it doesn't help that she's there to help advertise the games.

Her fanboys can be really annoying too. They make her out to be sexy but she's just an innocent 10 year old girl.

No 10 year old girl has a curvey midriff like that.......:nono:

Also, she's just your typical girly girl. Tomboys are WAY better then girly girls.

Heck, she hasn't really changed that much since the beginning ether.

There. Saved you some space.

Hell, I'm in the same boat a good deal of you are in. She's a good filler for action besides the Gym battles, but the fans can really grate some nerves.

I'm more with Scott!! I think she saved the Hoenn saga. Without her Hoenn would have been just a repeat of Johto. I like her personality, her pokemon, her character development, her rivals (ya for contestshipping ^_^) And most of the contest episodes have been awesome.

Wow scott you sure love Haruka. Just so u know that Mays name in japan. Harukas an okay charchter but her contests are always the same. I do like though the new Contestshipping they put in with Drew. I think that they'll drop her when the go into the next season because she is the main 3rd gen charcheter. BTW Scott MAYS NOT THE LEAD!!!

She's ok. I started to like her for awhile, but then the fanboys killed it all. Especially when they constantly insist that she's god's gift to the female fanbase, when said fanboys aren't even part of the female fanbase.

She is the female lead and the second most important and prominent character in Pokemon. That can't be argued with.

Wrong.

Pikachu.

She is ok. A character to go through Ru/Sa/E's contest aspect was a good idea, and they pulled it off so well. I will agree some fans just simply ogle over her, but I never understood an attraction to a fictional character to begin with. She is a lot like Ash in many ways, I guess that was intended, though. At least she isn't oblivious to the ways of love. I could see her continuing to be on the series, and I could also live with her going back to Hoenn to continue to pursue her career as a coordinator. It doesn't really matter to me.

Ah, let me rephrase that then, "She's the second most important and prominent human character in Pokemon." :D

But hey, I consider Pikachu an extension of Ash since it is his Pokemon and all. It's like Ash/Pikachu, then May, then everyone else.

I think people will still argue you on that.

Team Rocket, cliché as they are, would probably be considered more important to the series than May. Argue that, and I think you'll find very little support for your viewpoint.

Possibly, but the show doesn't really focus on them. Their dreams (?) will never be realized as long as they're with Team Rocket. They'll probably always be here of course, but I also seperate the heroes from the villains. AG revolves around Ash and May, everyone else is just along for the ride.
