Here we will talk about the joys of OrangeShipping and why we think that Misty and Tracey are PERFECT together.

Orangeshipping, alexa9966? I think I remember a couple of drawings by Endless-Summer to this end, and initially speaking, I consider this to be a relatively new way to look at the Orange Islands, as well as Tracey and Misty. I believe that this picture is it.:

It would seem that Misty likes looking at Tracey's drawings, and Tracey might not mind seeing Misty admire them. I haven't seriously considered Orangeshipping until now, and I do wonder where this road will lead.

Please explain!

Alexa,

I realize this is not a debate thread, but since you hit up our Pokeshipping forum with Pearlshipping praise, I hope you won't mind if I pose a question here, so long as it's specific to Orangeshipping. I promise I'll keep it polite; I would sincerely like to hear an Orangeshipper respond to this idea...

I have always suspected that the reason Orangeshipping seemed so reasonable was because, with Ash adventuring in other regions, Misty largely stayed in Cerulean City, and Tracey made frequent visits, as made known via Pokemon Chronicles, et al. Furthermore, Tracey seemed a little more in touch with romantic possibilities than Ash did, being level-headed enough to detect Ash/Misty's crush back in "Wherefore Art Thou, Pokemon."

That said, I have to notice. Tracey is wildly different than Ash. He is more timid, less ambitious, less heroic, for lack of a better word. With Ash-prospects out the window for the foreseeable future, it would seem satisfying to pair Misty up with Tracey (the other character booted off the show), but honestly, why would Misty go for that?

Wouldn't it cheapen Misty's character a great deal to have her fall for a next-available-guy-of-last-resort. We know what Misty's like, fiery (albeit with a romantic / sweet side, but outwardly she is much more the former)! Why would Misty fall in love with Tracey? Given that we know what sort of guys she would likely harbor a crush for, why do you consider their personalities compatible for romance.

Don't forget, Misty has been hit on by several guys, all of them a lot more impressive and accomplished than Tracey--Rudy, for example--and most importantly, I would hate to see Misty resort to simply "taking what she can get." That wouldn't be fair to her OR to Tracey.

Of course, platonic friends can become romantically involved, but I've never seen a pair less likely to do so. With all the friendliness and respect in the world, I ask that you get some posting started because I'm actually very curious to hear some real hints, evidence, or reasoning!

C'mon, Orangeshippers! Defend your boy! I wanna hear your opinions.

Well, I think that Misty has matured since she first felt in love with Ash. She is no longer that fiery, temperamental girl we got to know early in the series, and I don't think she belongs with someone like Ash anymore.

I don't see Tracey as the "next best thing" as you do. He may be not as "brave" and "impressive" as Ash as you said, but he still has got a lot of profits, if you ask me. He is a smart, helpful, friendly, sweet and cute guy, and I think he would be a MUCH more reasneable choice for the more mature lady Misty is now. She would be the dominant part in the relationship, though, of course, and I'm sure Tracey would be perfectly ok with that. ;)

Oh, what a dilemma...I'm not an Orangeshipper, but I am a Tracey fan, and the compulsion to defend him is just too great....

I have to agree with Candace that Tracey is much more than just a last resort guy. The way you (yadontknowme) describe him is unflattering, and not entirely accurate. True, he is "less heroic" by Ash's standards...but that could be seen in another light, that of Tracey being more inclined to think before acting. His "timidity" could also be called "courtesy;" his lack of being "impressive" may simply be a lack of the need to show off.

But I must take exception to you saying he is "less ambitious" and "less accomplished" than Rudy and Ash. It seems to me that Tracey's accomplished a lot toward his ambitions; after all, he's working for one of the most well-known and respected Pokemon experts in the world. That's a BIG accomplishment! Tracey's ambitions are plenty strong – as soon as he learned Ash and Misty knew Professor Oak, he conceived an ambition to meet him, and took steps to achieve it – stating his intentions clearly and even a bit rudely (one of the few times we've ever seen him be less than polite). Since Rudy, like most young gym leaders, probably inherited his position, I'd say Tracey's accomplishments more than measure up.

As for Ash, in regards to ambition, the only way Ash's ambitions differ from Tracey's is that Ash's ambition involves a career that's more...martial in nature, more "macho," and you surely can't mean that. I mean, if you seriously thought that being a champion battler is more "impressive" than being a ground-breaking scholar, that there's somehow more intrinsic value in fighting prowess than in knowledge and wisdom...well, I just wouldn't know what to say. You seem a decent fellow, so I'll assume that's NOT what you meant.

Now, I have to admit that as remarkable as I think Tracey is, I don't think he's Misty's type at the present – but NOT because I don't think she could appreciate a quiet guy or that she needs someone more "forceful." I simply think that Misty has more in common with Ash, and while she has matured a lot...he has, too. But since this is an Orangeshipping thread, I'll just stop that line of thought there.

The important thing is that Tracey is an admirable person and and plenty impressive in his own way. Who could fail to love that? ;-)

Orangeshipping? i thought this ship was dead. i haven't seen any fanar for this ship since forever yet any fanfics.

Orangeshipping i think has a chance but not that big. i guess this ship went back alive when the pokemon cronicals showed up.

Not everyone just jumps on the bandwagon of the ship du jour....:dodgy:

I actually liked that Tracey hung out with Misty in the Pokemon Chronicles. What a pity that Daisy was in the way...

Oh, so true. Quoted for awesomeness.

Yeah, I know Ash has matured a lot, but not in a way to make him and Misty fit eachother anymore. They did great when they were just two brats, but now I don't feel the same chemistry. I don't know you guys, but I just can't picture Ash being a normal husband/father, coming back home every day for wife and kids. He will be a wanderer forever, and he ever marry someone, he'll make his wife a frustrated woman, always waiting for him to come back home after a couple of months (I can't help but think of Goku and Chichi here), unless she is there by his side on his neverending journey or she is a really really really patient, open minded woman to not care he's out for so long - and I can't picture Misty fitting any of these cases.

As the romantic girl she is, I guess she has plans of getting married, having kids and stuff. And I wouldn't like to see her ending up like Chichi (I really felt sorry for that woman when I watched DBZ). She deserves to fall in love with someone who actually would treat her more nicely, and I think Tracey is just the guy. I love the way they interact. They seemed to have developed even more the bonds they previously had, and, Chronicles apart, that's very clear during that episode between Pokemon Advance and Battle Frontier (I fail to remember episode names :p), at Oak's Lab, where Misty is shown most of the time by Tracey's side, both even tag-battling against Team Rocket near the end of the ep. They were so cute together :D

The important thing is that Tracey is an admirable person and and plenty impressive in his own way. Who could fail to love that? ;-)

So true and awesome quote once again. Tracey deserves nothing but luv! ;)

I really like Orangeshipping. After watching the Hosos and seeing what good chemistry they had with each other, I looked back at the Orange arc and saw that the good chemistry has been there all along. There's something about their canon friendship that's incredibly sweet, and I think that kind of friendship could evolve into a very sweet and mature romantic relationship.

I need to learn how to draw Misty. There isn't enough fanart.

Thank you! :)

(Now, this next bit is in spoiler tags, because this is an Orangeshipping thread....)
...but I can't keep myself from commenting.

I don't know you guys, but I just can't picture Ash being a normal husband/father, coming back home every day for wife and kids.

I don't see either Ash or Misty being a "conventional" (I refuse to call it "normal") husband/father & wife/mother, but I rarely expect anyone to turn into that when they grow up, any more.

He will be a wanderer forever, and he ever marry someone, he'll make his wife a frustrated woman, always waiting for him to come back home after a couple of months...unless she is there by his side on his neverending journey or she is a really really really patient, open minded woman to not care he's out for so long - and I can't picture Misty fitting any of these cases.

See, I think Ash will still travel as an adult...but I don't think he'll have to be constantly traveling like he does now. I can also picture Misty wanting to travel, too (she's found her roots in the gym, but she still seemed to enjoy journeying). I think they'll be able to find a point in between where they can both be content...

But shut UP about Pokeshipping, Shiny, this is the ORANGESHIPPING thread!

(Compulsive Shipping Syndrome...not a pretty site.)

So true and awesome quote once again. Tracey deserves nothing but luv! ;)

Thanks again, and I couldn't agree more!

:tracy: = :soul:

Hee, I love Orangeshipping. The Kasumi and Kenji Hoso episode is still unknown for me, but I think that I should watch it someday. This shipping has such potential, because they spend much time together and have become good friends. :3 And isn't Kasumi's Luriri Kenji's Maril's baby or something? That is so adowable!
