C'mon, Orangeshippers! Defend your boy!
Oh, what a dilemma...I'm not an Orangeshipper, but I am a Tracey fan, and the compulsion to defend him is just too great....
I have to agree with Candace that Tracey is much more than just a last resort guy. The way you (yadontknowme) describe him is unflattering, and not entirely accurate. True, he is "less heroic" by Ash's standards...but that could be seen in another light, that of Tracey being more inclined to think before acting. His "timidity" could also be called "courtesy;" his lack of being "impressive" may simply be a lack of the need to show off.
But I must take exception to you saying he is "less ambitious" and "less accomplished" than Rudy and Ash. It seems to me that Tracey's accomplished a lot toward his ambitions; after all, he's working for one of the most well-known and respected Pokemon experts in the world. That's a BIG accomplishment! Tracey's ambitions are plenty strong – as soon as he learned Ash and Misty knew Professor Oak, he conceived an ambition to meet him, and took steps to achieve it – stating his intentions clearly and even a bit rudely (one of the few times we've ever seen him be less than polite). Since Rudy, like most young gym leaders, probably inherited his position, I'd say Tracey's accomplishments more than measure up.
As for Ash, in regards to ambition, the only way Ash's ambitions differ from Tracey's is that Ash's ambition involves a career that's more...martial in nature, more "macho," and you surely can't mean that. I mean, if you seriously thought that being a champion battler is more "impressive" than being a ground-breaking scholar, that there's somehow more intrinsic value in fighting prowess than in knowledge and wisdom...well, I just wouldn't know what to say. You seem a decent fellow, so I'll assume that's NOT what you meant.
I simply think that Misty has more in common with Ash, and while she has matured a lot...he has, too. But since this is an Orangeshipping thread, I'll just stop that line of thought there.
The important thing is that Tracey is an admirable person and and plenty impressive in his own way. Who could fail to love that? ;-)
Oh, so true. Quoted for awesomeness.
I don't know you guys, but I just can't picture Ash being a normal husband/father, coming back home every day for wife and kids.
He will be a wanderer forever, and he ever marry someone, he'll make his wife a frustrated woman, always waiting for him to come back home after a couple of months...unless she is there by his side on his neverending journey or she is a really really really patient, open minded woman to not care he's out for so long - and I can't picture Misty fitting any of these cases.
So true and awesome quote once again. Tracey deserves nothing but luv!![]()
