Preview ORAS Anime Short - November 16

Brendan finally makes an anime appearance outside of movie cameos?! I know this ain't the main anime as that is certainly not AG May. Most interesting.

This short will probably be as long as a regular anime episode, but it's odd how the Mega Evolution specials are exempt from being called "shorts"; I guess it's because there are several of them. This will be more satisfying than the B2W2 animated trailer, but it will still be fairly rushed (as evidenced by Mega Rayquaza). Are they going to show the Groudon/Kyogre climax? If so, which version will it be based on? They shouldn't spoil too much of the plot for new players.

I get the feeling that Brendan will be the protagonist with Treecko as his starter, which is a shame.

Oh, I hadn't noticed that he was tan for the new games. Neat.

BRENDAN!! BRENDAN IS APPEARING IN THE ANIME!

Wow, it's been forever since a male protagonist has appeared after Kenta's Crystal Special. I'm looking forward to this :D

Red says hi. This special is probably set in the same universe as Origins, so it is not part of "the anime".

They officially called it "short anime" and it is being coupled with the airing of Movie 7 in what I'd assume is a 2-hours block. After we take down the full movie's length + commercials time, I doubt there will be much left for this.
I bet this will be about 5 mins long and very similar to the BW2 animated trailer, although maybe instead of rushing too much they'd just focus on showing off the protagonists and the starters while making a jump ahead in the very end to quickly feature Rayquaza and Groudon/Kyogre.
It's nice to have this, but we shouldn't expect too much from this... better prepare for the worst.

The Pikachu shorts are around 20 minutes long, but you do have a point that Movie 7 was never coupled with a short and was 90 minutes long. That doesn't leave much time unless they cut the commercials, which is unlikely.

Also, if I understand correctly, there's supposed to be some segment hosted by Shokotan revealing some ORAS stuff. That's gonna eat even more time out of the little left for this short... remember last time something was coupled with a movie's airing? that was Movie 17's prequel, which was 5 mins long. I'm sure it's the same case now.
Sigh, I'm sure they have enough money to do more than that, but I guess they really don't want to waste anymore than what's necessary.

Ugh. I don't even know why Movie 7 is being used for ORAS promotion; Movie 6 is more relevant if only due to Groudon and the upcoming Jirachi distribution, and it's shorter and more interesting.

How did they fill the 2-hour slot with Movie 16 and that short prequel? I don't think that the Eevee short was included.

Woops, I forgot about Origins.

Imo, it could very well be 5 minutes long. The B2W2 promo anime was around 5 minutes. Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs also had a 2-parter anime which lasted 5 minutes each. All of them were made to promote the games, so they didn't need to be longer than 5 minutes.

The thing is that the B2W2 animated trailer had much better animation than this one does, so at least the budget went somewhere.

Are they going to show the Groudon/Kyogre climax? If so, which version will it be based on?

About that, I bet they'll either only show Rayquaza or manage to shove in both Groudon/Kyogre even if they don't really have a scene together in the game. They'd probably not want to pick a version.

They shouldn't spoil too much of the plot for new players.

Did you see all the officially released info? they pretty much spoiled the entire plot already... why did they do that? do they care so little about the plot and players experiencing it? Even these of us who are familiar with the original RS got spoiled about all the ORAS changes to the plot. So yeah, I doubt they care much about spoiling but they'd hardly have to time to spoil much anyway...

I get the feeling that Brendan will be the protagonist with Treecko as his starter, which is a shame.

Why? May got to star in the anime while Brendan got neglected back then, so I'd actually rather Brendan to be the star here. (the only issue I can see with Treecko is that it got the most focus back in AG but ehh it'd probably barely do anything here)

This special is probably set in the same universe as Origins

I'd say each of these is its own standalone thing and not necessarily in the same universe just because they're game-based. But we'll probably never have the chance to find out for sure if we keep getting a 5 mins short once in a Jirachi...

Ugh. I don't even know why Movie 7 is being used for ORAS promotion; Movie 6 is more relevant if only due to Groudon and the upcoming Jirachi distribution, and it's shorter and more interesting.

Movie 6 featured one of the version mascots, they don't want to "pick a version", so they went with the neutral legendary that fits both versions. It might be weak reasoning but I'm sure that's their way of thinking.

How did they fill the 2-hour slot with Movie 16 and that short prequel? I don't think that the Eevee short was included.

If I remember correct they actually did include the Eevee short.

All of them were made to promote the games, so they didn't need to be longer than 5 minutes.

It's so sad that this is how they're thinking. Even if it's a random standalone project for promotional purpose only, it can still be longer than that. At the very least make it a normal episode's length, if not even an Origins-like thing. (oh yeah, that thing involved gen 1, so it automatically got special treatment...)
Heck, a short series of 13/26 episodes could totally work for Mystery Dungeon and maybe even ORAS now. Maybe what I just suggested is a bit too much, and still I'm sure they have the money to do it. They just don't want to bother wasting a even a little more than they have to. The definition of "Pokémon" should be "wasted potential".

Because I always viewed her as the Hoenn heroine, especially with Red and presumably Ethan being the heroes of their regions. The anime May was definitely showcased, but she was no heroine.

Oh well. A short shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Give Brendan a chance, though. He's never even had a single episode dedicated to him

It's really more of a "pick your character" than having a set hero/heroine. Red is the only exception due to GSC/HGSS including him in the game.
They'd probably always pick the guy though for these things which I do find disappointing. I doubt it'll even happen at all but if we were to ever get some sort of animated material based on the BW games, I'd love to see it with Hilda as the star.

Aww I'm sad this doesn't seem to get the same awesome animation quality the B2W2 promo had, but I'm still very happy ORAS gets a animated promo!

Looks like it will be interesting. May's hair looks a bit shorter, though, it looks a bit odd, but I like that Brendan is, indeed, tanner. But they both look uber cute so I'm sure this'll be cool regardless of how long it is.

I can see this short being similar to the B2W2 animated trailer - it is within its own canon and features important events in the games.

If so, this should mean that the short will be dubbed and uploaded on Pokémon's YouTube page soon after the Japanese airing.
