Original Trainer Design- Feedback Wanted!

I've got an anime convention coming up at the end of May, and I'm considering making a cosplay of an original trainer design. This is the design I've come up with, and I'd like some feedback. Is it recognizably pokemon-ish? Even if it becomes a real costume, not a pokemon-style picture? Is there anything I could do to make it more recognizable, that won't change the whole concept?

Notes: The top jacket is a Haunter-esque hoodie, with spikes along the head and a long hood to resemble the tail. I'll also probably add a set of johto badges to the bag strap, and I may dye my hair purple (at least at the tips) if I'm feeling ambitious.

Okay, from a cosplayer to a cosplayer: Cosplaying an original character is usually a no-no. Though in this case it might work since it's sort of the equivalent of wearing a seifuku/school uniform from a series and cosplaying as a "student from school [whatever]", as you still have the components for what would be recognizable Pokémon trainer design. However, the fact your hoodie's design is based on a Haunter, people may assume you're a Haunter Gijinka. If you're doing this for fun and don't care if too many people recognize you, then that's okay. But if you're looking for people to recognize you, chances are they likely won't. While pokémon-ish in design, it very well could be regular clothes (which is the point anyways), the pokémon parts of the design could be attributed to the fact you would be at a con rather than you cosplaying someone.

However, in regards to the design itself: As I said, it has all the components of a Pokémon trainer's design. The color scheme works, and the outfit looks good. The pokéball design on the shorts is definitely a nice touch. It's a definitely a good design. It pleases me to not see what looks like clothes ripped/recolored from other protagonists. :3 I'd say the design is good. Thumbs up for you.

Thank you both for commenting I know OC cosplays never get as much attention as canon ones, but I just don't have any characters I like enough right now to dress up as them... Lyra is tempting, but an OC trainer appeals to me more I think I'll probably go ahead and make this, and I'll be sure to post the results when I'm done.

Anyway the design looks realy awesome, i dont know if theres a cheap haunter plushie you could buy on ebay or something but that could realy compliment everything

Someone at AN last year was walking around in their own trainer design it was based around a togepi. For people who dont know about pokemon it realy helps them understand

anyway, i've never cosplayed an original character before, so i don't have any advice on that, but this design is AWESOME. It seriously looks like she could be from the anime.

(i only wish i had been able to come up with something this creative when Ultimate Battle Frontier rolled around on DeviantART. I got kicked out on the first round. UGH! Dx )
