So, here's a rain team that is a bit of a revisioning of one I had before. Its definitely not made because the old one sucked, however, as I made it last September and its been undefeated since then.

Cleansing (Politoed)
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP/252 SpA/4 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power Grass
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
Behind the name: I named it after the song by Mors Principium Est, Cleansing Rain. I think my reason for that is obvious...
Tactical explanation: Its a bit different from other rain leads in that it actually packs some offensive oomph. With Choice Specs and 252 Special Attack EVs, this thing HURTS.
Item: Expert Belt
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Naive
EVs: 56 Atk/252 SpA/200 Spe
- Relic Song
- Close Combat
- Thunder
- U-Turn
Behind the name: I named it after the song by Dream Theater, The Dance of Eternity. My reasoning for that is because it dances, and is pretty hard to counter meaning it could last for what seems like an eternity.
Tactical explanation: At first glance, you may think that Meloetta is an odd choice for a Rain team. However, it is not. It makes an excellent Rain Mixed attacker due to its ability to use Relic Song then spam Thunder with its boosted Special Attack.
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Relaxed
IVs: 0 Spe
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Gyro Ball
Behind the name: I named it after the song by Rhapsody of Fire, Tornado. Why? It spins. That should be good enough.
Tactical explanation: This thing is meant to remove hazards and remove any that the opponent set up. After which I either Volt Switch to something else, likely Qwilfish for more hazards or go on a bit of a Gyro Ball sweep, depending on what's more feasible.
Item: Black Sludge
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 Spe
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes
- Waterfall
- Pain Split
Behind the name: The name was inspired by the Symphony X song, Dressed to Kill. Why? Qwilfish’s entire body is a lethal weapon, so he really is, “Dressed to Kill”.
Tactical explanation: This thing is meant to be annoying as hell, laying down both spikes and stalling you out with Pain Split. Also, thanks to intimidate, he's even harder to kill.
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder
- Trick
Behind the name: Named after Arcturus’ Kinetic, because it seems fitting enough in song title and from the overall feel of the song.
Tactical explanation: Scarfed and EVed for Speed, hits like a brick with Thunder and can catch you off guard with a Trick. Nasty little bugger.
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Swarm
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
- Thunder
- Bug Buzz
- Substitute
- Hidden Power Ice
Behind the name: Named after Sonata Arctica’s Weballergy, which is quite fitting because Galvantula creates webs that can give people a reaction that could be very similar to an “allergic” reaction.
Tactical explanation: This thing can use Substitute + Life Orb to get down to Swarm and make Bug Buzz hurt a lot, plus Thunder in the rain hurts too. Hidden Power Ice is great utility and catches threats to the team like Dragonite off guard.
