Over used items and things in the anime

this is not inclueded in like hints and forshadowing but just things that you relize that are over used in the anime,

an example would be

the group visiting a cirus or a preforming group
such as the episode when mr mime was caught by ash's mom, the ep where charmander evolved, there are so many i cant count lol

ash sliding down a hill to save his pokemon from team rocket

the over use of hot air baloons and blimps, not just the meowth baloon

of course the on going nurse joy and officer jenny twins

... just random things that you have noticed that have been over used over the years
 
One of the most common things about the show is a main character becoming overconfident in their strength and then suffering a big loss to bring them down a couple of notches and back to reality. Its happened to Ash more times than I can count, as well as May and Dawn. It also happened to Gary in the Indigo league.

The main characters will also rarely capture wild Pokemon unless they have an interest in them, there are tons of times Ash and co. could have captured a wild Pokemon that have no trainer and the idea of capturing it doesn't even come into their heads.

Ash will always loses his badges at least once every region.

I don't get how any of those things are overused.

We don't see them at performing groups all the time, we don't see Satoshi sliding down a hill all time, and we don't see any balloons aside from Team Rocket all the time.

We do see Jenny and Joy all the time, I'll give you that. But that's just how the pokemon world is.

Things that I do think are overused:

Pikachu thunder bolting Team Rocket
Team Rocket's motto
Team Rocket stealing Pikachu
Takeshi going crazy over a girl and being poison jabbed for it
Helping out some random trainer

Thankfully, some of these things aren't quite as overused as they used to be.
 
Definitely Piplup. Dawn needs to dedicate more time to her other Pokémon, especially to the new one. (Yeah it's not been many years but it's very overused!)

I know there's many many other overused things but I don't mind those. Ah...I mind one...Ash losing in the League!XD
 
Well, i'm getting fed up with the "we're blasting off again" thing and the poison jab on brock.
The fact that Ash will lose his badges or lose in the league happens only once by region, but the TR lousy plans are here almost in every episode.
And, as Rhyperior said: PIPLUP!! --> just stay quiet in your ball, for god's sake!

Of course, Team rocket motto, but i can deal with it.

But, there's something that bothers me in Sinnoh: Ash always says "I CHOOSE YOU!" when thowing his pokeball. It seems to me he used to be more creative in the past

But, on the contrary, in AG and BF, team rocket had an habit they rarely have now: meowth exposing the plan and saying "imagine the boss .... etc" and we could see the boss doing the actual thing. It was funny

I don't know about the dub, but that's what Satoshi has always said.
 
Anybody who doesn't expect "Pokémon" to be repetitive and formulaic does not understand the show.

I think there's repetitive and repetitive!

When the poison jab thing, or TR blasting off again, are overused, it's getting annoying. Otherwise (which means if used properly), that's funny
 
Pikachu itself is an overused pokemon. As keeps sending his other pokemon either to Oak or elsewhere, but keeps pikachu. Its not even his strongest (lol its not even strong) His Charizard or Sceptile would probably be the strongest ones he has.

Pokemon isn't just about strengh, it's also about friendship. The bond between ash and pika is unbreakable.

Besides, there's an economic reason: every year there are tons of pikachu dolls sold for children. Pikachu on its own REPRESENTS pokemon.
 
I supose there is the friendship to take into account, but I'm just saying I think there are more exciting pokemon he could be friends with than a mouse.

Sure, but parents would more buy a mouse doll to their kids than a muk doll or even charizard doll.
But you're quite hard with pikachu. He's not that weak! sometimes, he can really be strong, like when he beat a snorlax in one shot with his volt tackle
 
Well, if he's his friend, can't he just carry pikachu with him but without making him fight? (he wouldn't count in the team)
But, personnally, i like pikachu and find him strong (sometimes). So it's okay for me if Pikachu is here since the very first ep

yeah but thoughs things are over used on purpose of the writers im just saying stuff that happens alot and is cliched and not on purpose, and ash definatly slides down a dirt hill to catch team rocket in a truck with pokemon alot and the circus this is there to along with ballon. so just watch pokemon then tell me what you see

Unless that stuff happens in AG a lot I have no idea what you're talking about. I really don't remember him sliding down a hill very much (especially with a truck involved), and I have no idea what you mean with a circus and balloon.

Don't forget all those Super Potions. (Well, we don't see it enough, but we still see it more then Hyper Potions or Full Restores).
