I think we should do something that points out which moves are similar to each other aside from type. Like somehow showing all of the "Hyper Beams", all of the "Elemental Punchs", all of the "Quick Attacks" and "Swifts" and their alternatives by type. So people who want to know about Aqua Jet can just look at the page and go "OK, it's just Water-type Quick Attack", for instance. Or "Aerial Ace is a Flying-type Swift". Etc.

I'm not sure how to actually implement this, though. Any suggestions?

I agree that it's a good idea but also don't know how to implement it.

The only thing that's coming to mind is having a table with the accuracy, PP, and damage all displayed and then having individual moves listed along with their elements for every "Move archetype" or whatever. The biggest question is I have no idea what it should be called. "Similar Moves"? "List of Move Variations"?

I'd go for something more like "List of move variations" than "Similar moves".

Please, less giant templates. If you're gonna make more navigation templates, try to make them small.

I suppose. Just... remember, when it comes to something like that, smaller is better.

*still irked by some of the giant navigation templates some people try to make*

Instead of describing it with pp, power, and accuracy;
why not describe it using words like "Variants of Hyper Beam"?

*some people* Eheh, sorry, still...

Categorizing the moves by their similarity would help as well.

I was thinking of that too, but there are some generations where two versions of the same move are introduced. Like do we call it "Variants of Overheat" or "Variants of Psycho Boost"?

Anyways, it's progressing OK now, but the formatting is still screwed up. : / Anyone know how to fix that? I don't know much about making good tables.

We could make the tables within tables, or just divide them up by section...

Making sure that the moves, types, and generations are linked is good, too. And, I dunno, is it really necessary to tell what damage category it was in prior to Gen IV? It was by type then, so really, just looking at the type itself someone could see...

I sectioned them up by whatever move seemed to be the most "famous" first move of each move section. ^_^ It's still in order of Base Damage, though, and the data for the moves are still in the tables. That way it's easy to look at the top of the page and go to the list of moves you want. And yeah, I didn't wikify it yet because I still needed to make sure that the tables were feasible in the first place. Thanks to Pie, who fixed that. If anyone has any more to add, or if I missed some in the sections that are already there, feel free. I know there's more than this, but it's so hard to remember all 450 something moves and what they do.

Any reason why Doom Desire's listed as 4th Gen and Silver Wind as 2nd Gen?

I think this page should be linked to from the individual pages of the listed moves themselves, if only to give 'pedia goers the specific knowledge that such a comparison page exists to begin with.

...Any way you format it though, it's gonna be an eyesore. =\
