Gary/Ash is really the only pairing with Ash that I could see workable. I mean, Ash is a pretty stupid bugger when it comes to anything romantic, but like Mistress Puff said... Gary provokes all his emotions and is the only way Ash could ever step out of the cootie stage.

Ok, something that has always puzzled me. Who dominates who?
Does Ash over Gary, or Gary over Ash?
Personaly, I think Gary over Ash, as Ash seems a very insecure child, but others may disagree, and rightly so, we are all entitled to our opion, so guys, whats yours?

Curse you, Kieko4eva! I was perfectly content being a casual lurker here at Bulbagarden, but you had to go and create an irresistible topic about my one favorite pairing in all of Pokemon! Ah well... I'll forgive you... although my college professors might not if my posting activity here swallows up some of my time for studying! :lol:

Anyhow... I've been a palletshipper off and on now for like four years. I think what really sold me on this pairing was the Silver Conference episodes. With the whole half-a-pokeball memento, the moonlight chats near the lake, Ash's line about him wanting to win the Silver Conference for Gary (after he defeats him of course), Professor Oak and Delia talking about how so very important they are to each other, Gary suggesting that Ash be the one that carries the torch into the stadium, and finally, Gary's announcement that he was giving up training and Ash's saddened expression. The Silver Conference episodes are a paradise for palletshippers!

Speaking of paradise and palletshipping, is anyone else a regular visitor of the Palletshipper Paradise on Fanfiction.net? Some of the stories aren't so hot, but there's quite a few gems that'll have you frozen in your chair for hours on end!

The Ash holding Gary one is from "Battle of the Badge", I believe. X3

Gary is seme/dominate, and Ash is uke. I believe it's pretty straight forawrd for ShiShi, but yes, everyone does have their own opinions. However, it can get tricky when you have two uke-like characters such as Ash and Richie together.

Ok, something that has always puzzled me. Who dominates who?
Does Ash over Gary, or Gary over Ash?

The day Ash allows anybody to dominate him, especially Gary, is the day Pikachu gives up his/her/its addiction to ketchup/Team Rocket finally realizes Pikachu isn't worth blast off after blast off after blast off/Brock manages to actually fall into a successful and mutual relationship with a girl/etc... In other words, NEVER! :lol:

Ash wouldn't be Ash if he became submissive/passive. Besides, just because he and Gary are together, doesn't mean that they have to stop competing/being rivals. That's part of the charm of this pairing. Nobody but nobody gets under Ash's skin like Gary!

With as calm and collected as Gary usually is, I think he'd just let Ash risk popping a vein time after time rather than lose his cool. That doesn't necessarily make him the submissive one, but I don't really see either one adopting a seme/uke role.

It might just be a matter of preference for me though since I don't go for drawings of Ash in girl's clothing/attire and Gary in a business suit with a briefcase. That's probably an extreme take on the seme/uke roles though.

As much as I like Ash, I'd have to say Gary would be dominat. He's not as emotional as Ash is (which is probably from his lack of chatacter development or just his personality). I dont wanna say ash would 'give in' to gary, but he does agree with him ....ghmmm...
Is it just me, or does it seem as though Ash was a follower when he was a little kid?

Anyway though, it's kinda obvious that Gary likes Ash, seeing as how he used to pick on him so much (back in seasons 1 - 3).


But there's no way Ash could be *interested* in Gary, seeing as how Ash isn't gay.

Also, he isn't into romance either (nor does he know what love is yet).


Oh, and by the way, you can add me to the members list if you want. But to be honest, I'm not actually a Palletshipper, because I don't support that pairing.

Like I said, I just like Ash and Gary's friendship/rivalry.

Yeah, I'm still not to keen on it, I love Ash and Gary, but I do like this ship as it has both of my fav characters in it. Still, it's fun to see other people's views. Sometimes I get the feeling that Ash is a little interested in Gary, and vise versa, and sometimes I don't. Still, I'd rather have Ash straight, but No harm done I guess.........I hope..........hey, Why is it that Ash takes things 'to heart' when it's from Gary, and not the others as much?

I don't exactly think of it as the characters being gay.. I totally support Oak x Tracey, and Max x Harley ( Oh Harley xD ), but I don't think Oak, Tracey or Max are gay. But I support the male x male pairings their involved with. It's funny how I see it all.. Lol

True.. The emotions that are stirred up in Ash involve battles, which is, other than Pikachu, Ash's one true obsession. So I can totally understand how you see it though! Hehe, it's kinda funny but the only shippings I truely support are Pikashipping, Altoshipping, and the Ash and Bayleef shipping. LOL. XD



It's odd how all my favorite ships are human-and-Pokemon, but I don't mind that. I think it's very interesting. And of course, my favorite human-and-Pokemon ships are very cute indeed. ^_^
