The Age said:
Patrick Swayze's cancer has reportedly spread to his liver.

The Dirty Dancing star - who announced earlier this year he is suffering from pancreatic cancer - has reportedly started preparing himself for death by saying goodbye to his friends and family after discovering the deadly disease has infested another part of his body.

A source told National Enquirer magazine: "Patrick recently got word that the cancer had spread to his liver and that is what his doctors said would begin the countdown to the end. Patrick knew it was coming because he was suffering increased weakness.

"At times, he was so weak that he could barely walk without feeling faint. Sometimes he feels out of breath and has to sit down."

Patrick, 56, has reportedly told Lisa, his wife of 33 years, and his brother Donny that he doesn't have long to live.

The source added: "Lisa phoned Donny in Los Angeles and told him he need to come to Chicago, where Patrick has been filming TV show The Beast. She was crying and scared Donny to death.

"Donny got the impression his brother was already on his deathbed because Lisa was saying Patrick wanted to say goodbye. She couldn't stop crying."

Patrick has been undergoing pioneering Cyberknife radiotherapy at California's Stanford University Medical Center, and had been making a steady recovery from the illness.

This day was starting out great, but I'm depressed now. I hope he won't suffer too much in his final hours.

I can't believe that movie producers had the gall to ask him to do a Dirty Dancing sequel. This was when his disease wasn't as severe.

Wow. Another one about to be dead this year... 2008 was not a good year for actors..

Oh, creepy. My mom, my sister, and I are going to watch Dirty Dancing in only a few minutes. '_'

Yeah, poor Swayze. Wish the family well.

Well that sucks. :( I didn't even know he was ill.

and i thought 06 was bad year but 08 tops it we lost bernie mac and don lafantain and were gonna lose patrick swayze not to mention this economic crisis

Funny how you guys are expressing condolences to someone who's still alive and ignoring the millions, including US soldiers, who died today.

Proximity, emotional and physical, matter to people. It's probably not fair, but it's easier to express honest condolences for a single person you feel closer to (even if you don't actually know them) than it is to do so for millions of people whose names and faces you don't know and whose numbers are growing every second.

But if it matters, I'm one of those who mourns humanity in general. Not every day, and probably not even at the time I hear about the deaths or state of misery, but I do. In cases of popular people, though, I may, for example, think something like Cancer? Ouch, that sucks D:> or Dang, accidentally shot on set? o_O Well, crap, but I don't especially care for Patrick Swayze or Brandon Lee themselves because I don't really know them beyond "he's an actor" and "he's an actor who was another famous actor's son" respectively (well, those and "dying and leaving family, friends, and fans to mourn isn't/wasn't any fun"). I'll probably do something similar to the above posters if something happens to David Spade, though.

I feel sympathy for the loved ones of everyone who died. Which is, you know, everyone at some point. But we don't have a thread for everyone dead or dying, do we? :D

Don't we have a day or two to honor them? Like Memorial Day and Veteran's Day? I still pray for the troops to come home but still, tragedy is tragedy. The more we know someone, the more of a gutting feeling it is to lose them. People know Patrick Swayze through his acting and feel like they will be missing him. Same way when Julia Child died, Ronald Regan, and others. We will always honor the soldiers who died for us. Though, stars seem to be forgotten over time but soldiers will always be remembered.

It's a hard thing to watch someone die of, cancer. A lot of my family has died of cancer, since we all have cancer prone genes (you can bet I'm getting mammograms and staying away from drugs and alcohol and lots of sun.).

His type of cancer too-- yeesh. It's awful. I hope his final moments, when they come, will be peaceful and full of the ones he loves.

On yahoo, Swayze is griping in the news that the tabloids pretty much made it all up.
