You probably think i'm nuts, but just listen.

When battling Cyrus at Veisltone the guy's got a Murkrow, Golbat, and Sneasel.
When battling Cyrus at Spear Pillar he's laoding a Honchkrow, Crobat, Weavile, and Gyarados.

Let's see... Paul has a Weavile as seen in Top-Down Training. Spoilers lead us to beleive that Paul's Murkrow will evolve into a Honchkrow either before or in the episode where Ash meets Maylene.

Two pokemon similarities. Moving on.

Cyrus had a history he never mentioned.
Paul had a history he never mentioned (Having a brother who was a breeder...)

Cyrus really doesn't care about Pokemon.
Paul really doesn't care about Pokemon. (We saw how he cruelly trated the Starlies in episode 3, he's going to abuse and release Chimchar in the Tag Battle Arc, and when battling Cynthia, he really didn't mind how badly his pokemon were injured until it became evident that he couldn't win.

See a correlation?

You're kinda missing the biggest key part of the argument. Location, location, location.

Somehow, I just don't see Cyrus as being a family man...

In addition, though Paul's a big ol' meanie, I don't think he has plans to blow up the universe to create another one....

I hope this theory is true, it would be one wicked plot for Pokemon. But there really making Paul to be a lot like Silver.

You mean how Cyrus is from Sunyshore? I always got the feeling he hadn't lived there in a long time, going off how that guy who tells you about him wonders about him. If he'd been there recently, I think the guy might have responded differently.

Paul could have some *other* connection to TG too. Former agent? That was Silver's (well, Black's) connection to the Rockets before the "redheaded kid" line, in one of the mangas.

And...um...Paul's a jackass, yes, but he didn't treat the Starlys "cruely". He caught them and released them with hardly a word. Indifferently yes, but he wasn't mean to them. Heck, he even released them right where he'd caught them.

Yes, and the Starlies got off lucky. The Pokemon he does catch and keep are treated poorly, it seems. Look at Chimchar, and how he attempted his battle with Cynthia.

Also, I think they were referring to the fact that Paul's from Veilstone, the location of Team Galactic's headquarters.

Paul is just a tangled mass o' confusion backstory wise right now. The only one who can link us to his past is Reiji...

Anyway, well I feel Cyrus could be Paul's father, let's face it. Even though the writers are breaking new ground this generation with plot twists, I think that doing something like that
is still over their heads. However, it would explain why Team Galactic is taking so long, because if Paul IS Cyrus's son, we can assume that we, in a way, have been waching the
foreshadowing of them all along. Oh, and Fate, no one ever said that you have to be married to have kids.

Edit: now looking at Cyrus's art in my guide book, the two
look nothing alike. Paul and Reiji share their eyes and hair
color, so if Cyrus was their father, it would have to be the mother that had these traits and passed them on to her sons, or one of the parents would have to be carrier of these
traits. It seems unlikly given that they both ended up with those traits however, unless the mother had both traits and the Cyrus was a carrier. But I'm getting way to scientific with this.

Damn, and I figured people would be suggesting Giovanni as Paul's father for the longest time. There's a lot more resemblance there (not that I advocate it as a Diamondshipper, but he's everyone else's daddy, somehow...)

If this were actually true that would be the biggest Silver rip off ever. I mean that proves that the writers are running out of ideas. Also just because Team Galactic's HQ is in Veilstone doesn't necessarilyl mean that Shinji is related to Cyrus.

When I first saw the preveiw of Paul tossing a pokeball, I thought he WAS Brandon.

Well Akio Paul is supposed to be a knock off of Silver dispite this. Haven't you noticed the simularities?

Dammit, we need to get a DNA test already.

Giovanni could very well be the baby daddy of dozens. >:0

My problem with theory that Paul is the anime Silver is the fact that Silver DOES indeed exsist in anime continuty, for all of you who wached the Japanese opening of the the legened of thunder. To me, Paul my be based on Silver, but he isn't the same charactor.

Just because the GSC Rival (he's not Silver to me) was in one opening doesn't mean he's a character. Brendan was in all of those movie openings, and I wouldn't call him a character. The reason Paul rocks so much is because it's like having GSC Rival in the anime.

Eh, I think both Silver and Brendan are characters, but unlikely that Silver would be Giovanni's kiddo in the show as in the game, since characters in the game and the universe of it's pretty much completely different, though that goes without saying. Maybe I'm biased, because I would've liked to have seen Silver in more than a shot. Just doesn't seem like he would eventually because of the similarities between him and Paul, though Silver is more vengeful than anything, which is interesting enough to me anyway.

What's that I hear? The Viridian City Pokemon Center's having Free Paternity Test Day?

Oh, no, I never said that. Paul and Silver are different characters as far as I'm concerned.

But Paul, IMO, looks a LOT more like Giovanni's son would than Silver. (You have to realize, at the same time, I once wrote a four page treatise on Diamondshipping where I listed all the ways Ash resembles him as well and make it a point to take screenshots where Ash has a Giovanni-ish moment while watching my DVDs. I'm interesting like that. If Paul's related, he's Ash's half brother, far as I'm concerned.)
