The anime studio MADHOUSE revealed that it has begun producing animation based on the Peanuts comic strip by the late American artist Charles M. Schulz. According to MADHOUSE, it has produced an animated short that "is released somewhere in Tokyo" and indicated that the short is also on the web. Only two studios have been authorized by Peanuts Worldwide LLC to make animation; the other is Bill Melendez Productions, the studio famous for the Peanuts television specials. Schulz launched the comic strip in 1950, and even now, 12 years after Schulz's passing, newspapers throughout the world still run the comic strip. Snoopy Town Shops are popular destinations throughout Japan.

Lol, so it seems Peanuts will be getting their own Anime.

This is interesting, because Peanuts is quite a good comic strip. Also, not many comic strips got the anime treatment, so that's even better. It would still be disheartening to know that Charlie Brown will still be the fall guy, as it's usually shown.

That's it for now.

That's... wow. I'm so going to watch that, I always loved reading the comic strips when I was a little kid. <3

Why the fuck would you do that to a staple classic like The Peanuts? Stupid.

What the heck? Well, we should agree that new generations of children popping up will find this good, even if the older fans are in disagreement.

Oh, I can't wait to see how this will turn out. :D

first thing that came to mind

Anyway, not sure if I like this idea...or not. Definitely will have to tread lightly, considering it's such a classic.
(I really hope it doesn't go the fan South Park anime route).

This will be rather... amusing, though I'm not sure how it will work out, Charles M. Schultz is probably spinning in his grave right now.

It'll probably still use the same art style as the original comic strips except smooth and cell-shaded. All this talk about Peanuts makes me want to go to Knott's Berry Farm.

I can't help but wonder how this'll turn out. Will they turn into some kind of super sentai-ish (okay, maybe not, but something similar) type of a series, or leave it nice and simple. Will they turn characters like Sally and Lucy into obsessive girls over Linus and Schroeder? Will they age them and change the ages from 8 (even though technically Linus should be younger than this) to like...14 or something?

Well, anyway, whenever this does get done, I just hope it's simple and don't go the "super hero" or "super power" route...like they did with Ninja Turtles.

It's not a series or anything, it's just a short.

Ghetsis-Dennis is probably right, I doubt they're reinventing Charlie Brown in "anime style" or anything, rather Madhouse is simply producing an animated adaption of the strip like the old US TV specials.

I hope they don't change it too much from the comic
I love Peanuts comics and tv shows
I tried to wake up at 6am when i was little on the weekend to watch the cartoon of it

HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP!!!

Although, I have to admit that it does sounds interesting, but I highly doubt that it will be as good as the original comic strip.
