I can't stand it when you want to face somebody, you have your hand trained pokemon then all of a sudden-Bam. you're facing 2 legendary trios. I just want to know one thing, why must you do this? (Cept Regi trio, they're not uber).

Why don't you just use your hand-trained legendaries?

Enough with the whining threads already.

That and if you were able to actually...ya know..EV train your Pokemon you would be winning some matches. Legendary Pokemon are not banned in competitive play just because they're legendary, clearly you don't know that. So if you wanna play competitively either get your own set of rules or suck it up and play by your opponents rules which should be the standard Smogon rules.

Simple. Because even without things like EVs, beneficial Natures, or "decent IVs", Legendary Pokemon are powerful by default, so they require very little training.

That said, Legendaries are NOT the be all, end all of Pokemon battling, and if you keep losing to them over and over, then I think the saying "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG" applies.

Fun fact: A lot of legendaries, even though there stats seem good, are completely pathetic unless used correctly. Same goes with actually any Pokemon. If it doesn't have a good synergy with the rest of the team, it's worthless.
Also some legendary Pokemon have pathetic and predictable movesets...what I'm getting at is if you're not playing in Ubers tier you can always take down a legendary Pokemon.

But experienced competitive battlers know this already.

They use them because they think they are good. However, you need to train them and then they are really poweful. After all, they arent as good when you start at LV 50, with the basic stats.

Personally, I don't like using legendary Pokemon (not my cup of tea.) But I'm aware that many people are going to use them. At first, it bothered me a little. Then I got over it. It happens. Nothing you can do about it. It's not like Pokemon such as Entei and Moltres are undefeatable (they're kinda average, actually.) And you can take down a Regigigas if the opponent's not smart enough to circumvent it's ability somehow. Also, Pokemon like Jirachi and Celebi? Not that tough in the end. The former falls to a well timed Earthquake from anything with decent to good attack power and the latter has seven weaknesses. All in all, using most legendaries is just about on par with using the pseudos (Dragonite, Tyranitar, etc.)

Moltres is way below average. It loses half of his HP on the switch in when stealth rocks are up. You might as well just leave an empty spot on your team. Entei has a pretty shitty move pool, too. Celebi and Jirachi sometimes give me headaches on Shoddy, but that's pretty much because of Jirachi's flinchax.

Generally, I do not use legendaries, but as long as their not hacked or anything, I don't mind.

Usually if I do use a legendary Pokemon for battle it is one of the three group pokemon, like the birds, dogs, or Regis. They have there strengths, but they arent as maxed out as the other legendaries.

I've seen a Weavile fell a Rayquaza in one punch. So, yeah, normals can very easily beat legends.

They really don't bother me at all. Not to be harsh, but about 90% of the time on Wi-fi battles, the people using all ledgendary really haven't put alot of thought behind their team or the strategy they will be using. If you're pokemon are alright and you have a good plan of attack, most of the time you will do fine.

You could always just tell whoever you're battling that you don't want legendaries to be used:p

I use legendaries occasionally (Mewtwo and Giratina are in my Plat Main party...Mew is in my Red Party) but they're not unbeatable. Even legendaries have weaknesses, for mine, Giratina is weak to itself (both its own types ironically enough, Giratina VS Giratina could be fun) and Mewtwo is weak to ghost and dark types.

I don't have much use for legendaries unless I have a special connection with them. I used Moltres a lot in Red, so I rather like it--same with Articuno. And Mew makes a wonderful "HM whore"--some might say it's a waste of a legendary, but I think it's better than being cheap and using one in battle.

I'd never got attached to any of the legendaries in the succeeding generations, so I never saw a reason to use them.

The last legendary I had in my team was Kyogre on Sapphire, but ever since I've never bothered to catch any others.

I'd have to agree, that Legendaries aren't the best, and I tried not to use them in official things unless they are allowed in both parties.

By official I mean, like, the pokemon League, or trainer battles over Wi-Fi or link cable(wow, I'm not that old am I?)

With the league, I used dragonair, and palkia, but I trained them up a bit.

Since Dragonair was transfered from my fire red, it should be fine, and Palkia I raised by around 4 levels I think...

With linked battles, I usually have set rules, like "all level 100" matches, or "all legendaries" or "no legendaries"

So IMO, it really depends on how much you've raised them, the rules set, if you use them through the first time in official events (Wheres the fun in beating Brock with a mewtwo in fire red?) if you've raised them at all, and if the opponent agreed on it, as well as if its fair in levels.

But overall, legendaries are not so fearsome, they can be beaten, just like any others.
(sorry for rambling if I did...)

Any Pokemon that has decent IV's and is EV can effectively destroy a legendary if they know how to act.

Personally I like fighting legendary Pokemon, it makes things a little more interesting and makes the other person look bad if they get owned by a team of non-legendary Pokemon.

Most Legendary Pokemon need training like the rest of the Pokemon out there. It's just that the strongest Pokemon in the game happen to be legendary. Strongest may mean legendary, but legendary doesn't mean strongest.
