I understand that the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books aren't as popular in other places as they are in Austin, but I love those books, and the movie based upon the first in the series (the Lightning Thief) looks superb, judging by the teaser trailer attached to the new Harry Potter movie.
For those of you who don't know, the Percy Jackson books are about a kid named Percy Jackson who finds out one summer that his father is Poseidon, Greek god of the ocean. He goes to a special summer camp called Camp Half-Blood, where demigods like him train to fight monsters. The books take Greek mythology and basically place most of the elements (including monsters, the gods, and the villains of the series, the Titans) into modern day. The books are very good, I must say, and have developed a very big following here in Austin, Texas.
The movie is being directed by Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Harry Potter films.
The role of Percy Jackson is being played by Logan Lerman.
So, anyway, discuss and stuff.
