On a note related to another thread of mine:
Why was it Mewtwo became a morally better being, though Toriyama's Cell did not?

Cell and Mewtwo are... very different...

For a start, Mewtwo is cooler...

Why are you compairing two characters from very, very different series'?

Do you deny the two characters have similar backgrounds?

well, mewtwo and cell were both geneticaly engineered to be powerful, but mewtwo was only created to be a powerful being used for control, while cell was a relatively single minded killing machine

It's been a very, very long time since I've seen Dragonball Z, so I can't remember.

But still, their from very different series.

I think its the gap in power levels for one that makes this question....irrelevant...

Mewtwo has a soul and feelings for others while Cell does not.

How is this any different from asking why two people (both born under normal circumstances) turn out to have morally different views on life?

The difference between Mewtwo and Cell is that Mewtwo wasn't born as a creature predisposed to killing while Cell's entire existence was to gain more power and take over the world. Mewtwo was able to change because he saw that not all humans treat Pokemon like crap and that they can coexist peacefully.

Mewtwo's anger stemmed from being a mistreated lab rat while Cell's stemmed from being programmed to be that way.

I doubt it matters when in their individual worlds, very few were able to stand up to them.

I do and also Pokemon and DBZ are completely different shows, with completely different plots and writers.

I don't know how you can even being to compare them.

The only similarity between the two is that they are clones. Since the OP is talking about Mewtwo's heel face urn, he's obviously referring to the anime one.

Mewtwo's background

  • Created in hopes to refine cloning to the point that the lead scientist can revive his daughter.
  • Funded by Giovanni so that he can have the world's most powerful Pokemon
  • It's a genetically altered clone.
  • All of its childhood friends died in front of his eyes (well mental world) and was wiped from his memories, yet the feeling of emptiness didn't seem to go away.
  • Mistreated by scientists as just a mere lab experiment despite having the cognitive functions on par as humans.
  • Mistreated by Giovanni as a mere weapon.
  • Being the most powerful being (or so he thought) in the planet, he decided to purge the world of these creatures who mistreated Pokemon.
  • Changed when he realized not all people in this world are like those who he encountered.
Cell's background

  • He was actually developed with the intention of being a weapon.
  • Rather than being a clone, he's more like a chimera being an amalgamation of the Z fighters and other powerful beings.
  • Unlike Mewtwo, Cell was actually programmed for destruction and to even canabalize its own "siblings" for the sake of power.
  • Cell's intentions was to be the most powerful being and to destroy all lie while Mewtwo's was to be understood.

Pointless thread is pointless. Can we get a lock? You don't compare apples and rutabaga.
