-Electrify Heliolisk
-Tailwind Emolga
-Follow Me/Helping Hand Pachirisu
-Fake Out, Encore Raichu
-Disable Galvantula
-Spider Web + Soak
-Mega Ampharos to beat.. everything except Stunfisk (and itself lol)
-Plus and Minus? Magnetic Flux?
-Intimidate Luxray/Mega Manectric for Electivire

advent stunfisk, plebfucks

yes
nyow begins my reign of terror with stunfisk
and I can actually make that statement literally
you cannot grasp the true form of neosquid's hype

So was thinking, only two Megas available and Mega Ampharos just tanks like... everything except Rotom Fridge and maybe Stunfisk and random Earthquake Electivire. It also has Mold Breaker to ignore Lightning Rod, Volt Absorb and the like. So I expect it will be everywhere.

And yah, Stunfisk actually seems pretty cool here since it's one of the few Electric-types to learn Ground moves (and the only to be a Ground-type of course).

First thoughts on my team are: Eelektross, Mega Ampharos and Stunfisk. A Lightning Rod user and a Rotom form will probably make up two more. Dunno though, might change. Raichu is interesting for Fake Out, Lightning Rod and Encore actually...

Gonna think over it a bit more before starting to breed.

Edit: Electric moves are going to be pretty useless actually since most everything resists or is immune... so probably not worth using Electric moves that much actually.

I am SO into this! I can't wait. I can see Manectric being on pretty much every team :/

dunno
I mean it's one of the best electric types in the main game but it's a lot worse when its electric STAB isn't hurting anyfin

overheat, intimidate, and high speed even for an electric are all gr8 but besides that I doubt it'll be very exceptional

mega ampharos, on the other hand...

I'm running Dedenne specifically for those Dragon Pulses.

stunfisk: Fucks shit up. Also 99% of the reason I'm participating this tourney at all.
galvantula: bug STAB is cool for hitting things neutrally and stuff like rotom-mow especially. Also gets giga drain, a ground neutrality, etc. I also wanna use it cause it was one of my favorite pokemon back in gen V and I sorta wanna give it another go.
chinchou: obvs lanturn is better, but chinchou is one of my favorite electric-types and this is like the only opportunity I have to use it any effect, ever
eelektross: no weaknesses, decent bulk to tank coverage moves and stuff, decent coverage, etc. Also I just really like eelektross in general.
mowtom: useful grass STAB, decent bulk, immune to ground, etc. I also sorta like mowtom in general (notice a trend here?)

trying to think of what else to use. Leaning towards magneton, heliolisk, mega amph, and luxray. I'd love to fit my shiny electrode in here but I don't think it's good enough to make the cut.

I'm running Dedenne specifically for those Dragon Pulses.

protip: don't

252 Atk Dedenne Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Ampharos: 170-204 (44.2 - 53.1%) -- 23.4% chance to 2HKO

and that's if you run...physical dedenne

let's find out what jawdropping damage physical dedenne is doing to non ampharos pokemon:

252 Atk Dedenne Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eelektross: 106-126 (28.3 - 33.6%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO

and I'll be a bit more generous and do one for lorb dedenne too (is waste cause probable item clause)

252 Atk Life Orb Dedenne Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eelektross: 138-164 (36.8 - 43.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

yeah, just....just don't.

252+ SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Dedenne: 134-158 (48.7 - 57.4%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Hidden Power Ground vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Dedenne: 238-282 (86.5 - 102.5%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

lmao

Dang I'm planning my team right now too. Imma run a surf helio just to counter stun and hot everyone at the same time except my water absorb lanturn.

I'm gonna work on making a list of useful things certain Pokemon can do or potentially fun strategies in the first post. If you have any ideas also feel free to post!

I had the same idea. More or less handles the possible Stunfisk threat, although not entirely. It's an odd tournament, with such a small pool of viable Pokemon to work with in Doubles, you really can't afford to run Protect on many choices, unless you full on forget about using Electric moves. I mean, the better part of my strategies utilize Pokemon that have access to Fire and Ground moves, and I've been breeding for Hidden Power Ice most of the day.

I can see many teams running Sejun's Pachirisu. That Follow Me is going to be prevalent for sure. Ground type moves (Hidden Power Ground runners and Earthquake Electivire come to mind) will take care of it, but not before getting caught by that Super Fang for a one-two punch. The Pikachu line MAY be used widely. I can't really tell. It's fast enough, and is the only one it this tournament to get access to Fake Out.

I know I'm posting here a lot, but they've changed the date of registration and the tournament to a week later than they said originally.

It's now:

Registration: August 13th to August 20th
Competition: August 21st to August 23rd

So gives us another week to decide + breed stuff for it.

Also Showdown has put a ladder up for this if people want to test stuff before breeding them!

been doing showdown
decided against chinchou because it kind of sucks even for this
maybe I'll use it anyway in the actual tourney just for fun idk, I'm sure there will be more scrubs there than on showdown that I could use it against

> stunfisk is putting in serious work ofc
> electrode (which I decided to try) is really useful for throwing up a fast light screen and taunting a few annoying things, find myself using it basically every battle so far
> galvantula is so far a bit of a letdown relative to everyfin else, might try putting a boosting item on it over sash
> heliolisk is alright, sandstorm helps it and stunfisk dodge shit with sand veil, electrify screws with things, etc
> eelektross is tanky and puts pretty good work in with its coverage, one of the few things that doesn't mind electivire so much
> mowtom kills opposing fisk and whatnot while hitting surprisingly hard even with a white herb, can heal itself with pain split, burns, etc

The Pikachu line MAY be used widely. I can't really tell. It's fast enough, and is the only one it this tournament to get access to Fake Out.

maybe
the threat of fake out makes me inclined to protect but then the little assholes go for encore
it's really annoying but besides that they haven't been bothering me much
killing pikachu is like firing a machine gun through a wall made of wet toilet paper, unless it's running sash in which case it does about the equivalent of zero damage
raichu is a bit more threatening but still

I like to run Galvantula on my normal Doubles team. It's a fast Sticky Web setter, and Compound Eyes with Wide Lens seriously increase the accuracy of Thunder. But it's definitely a niche Pokemon for situations where Electric attacks would be ideal. In a battle where everyone is Electric, it would just sort of fall to the side.

I've opted to run Heat Rotom over Mow Rotom, just to be different. In the days leading up to the competition though, I may change that.

I'm also taking MManectric and MAmpharos just to cover the bases. This way I have a choice over literally 100% of the megas available at the start of any battle. I've also grabbed a Heliolisk and taught it Hyper Voice and Surf (For Stunfisk, although Mowtom may be better). I also have Electivire and Magnezone (With tri-attack for possible Burn/Freeze in lieu of an electric move). This may ultimately be a bad play on my part, but we shall see when I test the team.

I'm thinking about stuff like Eelektross and Mow Rotom, of course, but I got some other ideas as well- first off, I'm using a Raichu- in fact, I encourage as much Raichu use as possible, instead of Pikachu use. The thing that makes the prize Pikachu so special is that it has Endeavor. Yeah, I'd rather take the Poké Miles, personally. In fact, I'm even referring to this as the Raichu Cup, trying to rally some support for Raichu. Get Raichu into the top 3 instead, maybe give Nintendo the message that some of us would like to see more love for it. And as for some of my others...

*Stunfisk. Favorite Electric-type ever, no way in hell am I not using this here. Stunfisk is just awesome, and its bulk is not to be underestimated.

*Mega Manectric. Electric STAB may not be worth shit in this competition, but Intimidate and Snarl? Yeah, that's gonna be useful.

*Zebstrika. Sounds a bit random, I know, but I really like the Zebstrika I got here. It's fast, it's got a decent Flame Charge, Double Kick for the odd Magneton and Magnezone... and Me First. Oh, man, nobody ever sees that coming. Switch the partner out for Eelektross or Rotom, use Me First on the opposing Electivire, and you're blasting it with its own Earthquake at x1.5 the power. Mega Ampharos about to unleash Dragon Pulse? Beat it to the punch with Me First! And it's got a Life Orb, so even though I've EV trained it as a physical attacker, it can give a little kick to Me First special attacks, too. Oh, and Sap Sipper. Everybody expects Lightning Rod or Motor Drive on Zebstrika, nobody sees Sap Sipper coming, I can't tell you how many Grass moves this thing has taken. Gives me a foolproof switch-in to Mow Rotom's Leaf Storm.

All in all, much as I'm not one for Doubles, I gotta say, I'm looking forward to this. And to those of you thinking about using Pikachu, please, use Raichu instead. The Pikachu prize just isn't worth it. If it had Surf or something worthwhile, that'd be a whole other swarm of Yanma, but sadly, that's not the case here. And Raichu needs more love, anyway, the poor thing's been living in its own pre-evolution's shadow since basically Yellow Version.
