So, after browsing that other Pokemon site earlier today, I learned about Nintendo releasing a special edition yellow 3DS XL (called 'LL' in Japan) with a Pikachu print on it, and discovered that Bulbapedia nor anyone here had posted about it yet. EDIT: Yup, the thread in Bulbanews was posted at 9:30 pm, I broke the story 9 hours earlier. (The level of pride I feel over this is absolutely comical, I promise.)
Anyway, here's a nice pic that shows the front and back of the console, and the box it comes in.
(The pic is large, so i had to Spoiler it)

This will be the first themed 3DS XL release. It will be released on September 15th, but is only available to customers who pre-order through Pokemon Center stores, meaning no US release :( (At least, not yet.)

They released a DSI with Reshiram on it... but it was a standard-sized one, aside from not being a 3DS.

Incidentally, I've read that the battery life for the new 3DSXL is supposed to be better than the old one... which I guess doesn't actually say much, but hey.

I wish they'd release stuff like this more often. I'd certainly invest in some of these themed ones. And I didn't know about the Reshiram one, just came off a three year pokemon retirement.

I hear you. I hope we actually GET this special 3DS in America; we were burned for the Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance 3DS.

I wouldn't be surprised if America does get it as a Nintendo World exclusive at some point.

Oh, I'm hoping they release one in the US :D Not too happy with the white part, though. White consoles are pretty, but it drives me crazy keeping them clean-looking. And then some of them get yellowish after a few years and it looks terrible.

I got the Pokémon Black DSi a few months ago and it's the most beautiful console I've ever seen :3 So I decided I would only get a 3DS if it was a special edition one.

Pikachu has nipples on this thing XD

If they release it in the USA, I'd buy it on day one! Just as long as it isn't a Nintendo World exclusive. I live almost 900 Miles, which is 14.5 HOURS away from New York City, so I'd never be able to buy it...

I really hope it's not a Nintendo World exclusive D: I live 2771.75 miles away from New York! (According to Google XD)

I'm really hoping that if it's released, they'll sell it through Amazon. Or I'll just have to get the Japanese version, but I'll have to import the games as well. Bah. What I'd do for stuff with Pikachu on it. That thing really does shit money XD

I like to think those 'nipples' are a celtic torc:

Also, NY is a lot closer to Japan. Hopefully it'll just turn up on Amazon, though.

If it is a Nintendo World exclusive, I'm gonna buy it off Ebay, Since I no longer buy things off amazon for how EXPENSIVE things are on there (I saw a single Skylander figure on there for like $500?!?!). Eh, people are just ignorant with Prices on Amazon.
Wait, does Nintendo World have a Online Store?

So after speaking on the phone to a manager at the Nintendo World store (their phone number is on the web page), I've learned that the Pikachu 3DSXL will prolly be Japan-only, because their 'sponsored' by the Pokemon Center stores there. (I believe each one is costom-made, which is why they must all be pre-ordered.) And, naturally, they're region-locked.
Unless they're such a huge hit that Nintendo decides to do a proper international release, it seems we non-Japanese (those of us who don't live there, I mean) are foiled again...!

If it's a Japan Exclusive, it's time to save up and hound eBay a month after it's released. :<

LOL. The face shape, albeit cute, is more Pichu than Pikachu, IMO.

Any hope for an international release? Not everything released in the US gets to other countries. Or should I forget about it? This is perfect since I'm actually planning on getting a 3DS for myself.

If you don't mind only being able to play Japanese versions of the games; it's region locked, so it won't allow any others...

Wouldn't bother me that much, I already have a JPN Wii. Something this cute is worth it. oAo

How much does it cost to import something like that? And I thought there were issues with power, too, like how you can't plug an American cell phone into a UK outlet...

My JPN Wii uses the same cords my US Wii uses with no issues, so I assume it will be the same for the 3DS charger. D: I was lucky to get my JPN Wii used, so it was fairly cheap, only $138 (including shipping). I'm guessing I won't be so lucky with the Pikachu 3DS, but there is always hope, haha.

Honestly, I would be all over this if it was a regular 3DS, and not an XL. I really don't like the XL, and I think it's too big and kinda defeats the purpose of a handheld. If these were released in a regular 3DS model, I would be hounding eBay like nothing else, even though I already have a 3DS. ^_^

Huh. Considering how many people have imported JP DSs, you're prolly right, I would suppose. Neat... Oh, is your JP Wii region-locked, though?

From what I understand, the huge screen does make older DS games look a little blocky, but for things like Kid Icarus and the new Kingdom Hearts, the 3D feature actually seems... well, in 3D. Also, it's considerable bulk allows for a battery that, y'know, actually lasts for more than 3 hours, which is a HUGE improvement. (Get it? Huge... Oh, nevermind.)
