I watched the new opening of the Sun & Moon anime, and I found this scene:

This attack don't look like a Thunderbolt

What do you think about It?

It looks like the new way they began animating thunder in the games and anime where its a thunderbolt shot into the sky that crashes down on the foe, only Pikachu forgot that move in Battle Frontier so it possibly is just a variation of thunderbolt.

Pikachu used to know the move Thunder in the anime iirc. I think that looks like a Thunder because it is going into the sky like the Thunder in the games. But it could easily be a Thunderbolt styled differently. Let's wait and see!

Which did Pikachu forget Thunder when it's stronger than Thunderbolt? Is it harder to hit?
Thunder was usually seen as Pikachu's strong finisher for decisive matches. When it learned Volt Tackle, that became the "new" finisher so Thunder was forgotten in exchange for Volt Tackle. Thunderbolt was kept because of its consistent speed and power, like Quick Attack and Iron Tail.

Agreed - plus it would look weird when Thunder could hit every time. Thunderbolt is just right for Pikachu along with the rest of his moveset.

Yes I was thinking about gym battles where that happened. I thought that the SM picture looked like a styled Thunderbolt. I don't think that we should be concerned about it because Pikachu learning a new move properly involves the whole episode and gives it away in the episode title haha
