Piplup to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as item: DP Starter set to appear from Poké Balls

Today's entry in the official blog of Super Smash Bros. Brawl President Masahiko Sakurai revealed that Piplup, the penguin starter Pokémon, will be present in the Wii game as one of the many Pokémon contained in the Poké Ball item.

NOw that we know they do include the 4th gen Pokemon in brawl, I can start hoping for Lucario again.

Why is Lucario so popular? He never struck me with any form of originality besides being the only steel/fighting type...then again I haven't seen a Pokemon movie since #3 and he's in one, right? As a playable brawler I think he'd be too much like Fox...that's just me.
Is he really that neat?

Aside from having many fanboys soley because of his "Movie" status, Lucario also sports one of the best movepools in the game. It has the ability to 2HKO a Blissey with it's special STAB Aurasphere with a +1 SAtk boost. It is quite possibly the best End/Sub Reversal Pokemon in the game, and causes a lot of problems on many teams.

Watch the movie and I am sure you will see why he is so popular.

Hahah, actually, I hate the cartoons and movies with a passion (what does Lucario...do...exactly?). They focus way WAY too much on the human characters which are idiotic to the farthest degree of idiocy. Mewtwo was the strongest attempt at character depth in the whole original thing, imo.

Pikachu's vacation before the first movie was the greatest animated pokemon short ever simply because there were no stupid f*cking humans. Seriously.

To "L": intriguing. What about a superpowered ground move like Earthquake? Fighting/Steel...mm. I wonder if and how aurasphere would translate to Brawl.

I'm rooting for Mewtwo returning...if the Ice Climbers can come back... :D

Aura Sphere would be like Shadow Ball except it'll fly in a straight line. I'd be like the Hadoken. In fact, Lucario can sense Aura, also known as Hadou. So I'd say if Lucario shows up, it'll use Aura Sphere, and it will be identical to the Hadoken in the SF games.

*ahem* Since when did the topic become about Lucario?

In anyway, the Piplup in the pictures looked pretty bad, graphically. Whatcha think?

It, like everything other than the playable Pokemon characters, is the Battle Revolution model ripped and chucked in the game. Same as they did with Melee. And the Battle Revolution models are barely any better than the XD models. Half of which are still the exact same models from Pokemon Stadium, so they will stand out a bit.

Ack, sorry. Is it really? Stuff looks much smoother in PBR. I can understand that, seeing how Piplup is really not of utmost importance in Brawl. Then again, Pokemon Trainer is really crappy looking polygon-wise.

Well, Piplups ability in the game should make things interesting, depending on how difficult it is to escape from. Really, the only thing I'm NOT looking forward to is how they'll obviously use that obnoxious voice of its from the dub.

They've confirmed the appearance of at least one D/P Pokemon in a Poke Ball, but that one sounds really annoying. I hope other D/P pokemon appear in Brawl. There are currently confirmations of Groudon, Deoxys, and Munchlax for Poke Ball Pokemon.

Looks like we found our Marill counterpart for Brawl. :p This time though, we get Surf instead of just a Headbutt type move. Hopefully it will be a bit more useful than Marill was though.

(I also wonder if you can kick Piplup off the stage like you could with Marill in Melee. We'll just have to wait and see. :p)

Since people are hating on the voice, I can imagine lots of people are looking forward to booting the penguin off the stage.

There are bound to be dozens of Pokemon available for use in Pokeballs, it's guaranteed it's going to have Pokemon from all four Generations. I'm hoping we'll see most of Melee's return as well, especially the legendaries.
