Japanese OVA: "Pikachu's Winter Vacation"
Pokemon Chronicles Episode 22: "Christmas Night"/"Kanga Games"

Toonami UK, 4:30pm
Pokémon Chronicles comes to an end with the original Pikachu's Winter Vacation...which aired in Japan all the way back in 1999! In "Christmas Night", the Pokémon explore the cabin while Ash, Brock and Misty go out to buy a Christmas Cake. Then in "Kanga Games", the Pokémon play in the snow with a Kanga.

Um, Toonami, Christmas isn't for another 2 ½ months! Don't get me wrong, its nice to see it now, and all...but the way they push Christmas, it would probably have been better to wait until then.

I wish 4Kids would always make the effort with music like they did here. Even if it was a case of just leaving it alone, they did a good job.

Geodude and Onix are in "Kanga Games", but not "Christmas Night". Well, I suppose they needed something to protect them with if Team Rocket came along!

"Ready to go home?" Ash...you don't have a home. You travel around, remember?

Oh the credits, though! This was a nice surprise!

And next week on Toonami UK, it's "Clamperl of Wisdom" on Monday. And hopefully, "The Relicanth Really Can" and "The Evolutionary War" on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.
 
Quick question, was this actually redubbed? For those who don't know, 4kids dubbed this back in 1999 and released it straight to VHS.

Is this the same dub as that one or was it redubbed?
 
Didn't a Pikachu's Winter Vacation DVD already come out?
I saw one at Borders.
 
If it has, I haven't heard of it appearing in Britain so I can't compare.

There has been three groups of Winter Vacation shorts. The first one, (from 1999), was this episode. The second, (from 2000), has "Winter Games" and "Stantler's Little Helpers", which is not part of Chronicles. The third, (from 2001), has "Delibird's Dilemma" and "Snorlax Snowman", which was episode four. It also has "Trouble in Big Town", which aired a couple of weeks ago.
 
hmm...For some reason, there is actually a scene from either "Winter Games" or "Stantler's Little Helpers" in the opening!

Was this the final episode of Chronicles/Hoso? Are there any more specials left to be dubbed? Someone said that the season finale aired this past Wed, Oct 12. I get these from a guy in the UK, so I'm wondering if there was something on the 12th. Also, the guy I get them from cuts off the end credits, what happened?
 
On Wednesday, we got "The Legend of Thunder: Part Three" followed by"The Evolutionary War".

This isn't a Hoso, but it is the last episode of Pokémon Chronicles until more specials are made in Japan.
 
So then we've seen all the specials out of Japan now? Any idea if they'll make more anytime soon?
 
Hopefully, we'll get more soon. But it has been over a year since the last one, (which aired at the point we are just passing now in the dub.)
 
CN wants to show Christmas specials today, so they finally aired the last episode of Chronicles. About 8 years too late. It's Kanto! Whoamogosh! I wasn't expected that. Yeesh, some serious nostalgia here.

Onix gets in on the mindless action for once! Cool!

I saw this last year, as I live in Canada. I didn't like it too much. It was obviously made for the younger generation of watchers.
 
Then explain how I just saw it. It was on from 5 to 5:30.

It was a great dub. All the music was from the original version. There were moments of silence. The ending credits were even kept! Well, the music for the credits was the horrid second Chroncicles theme, but those images had to have come from the original.
 
I don't have cable and besides that, I'm at work. So all I have to go by are what the schedules tell me. So sue me.
 
This special was dubbed along long time ago.

Back before 4kids even knew what a "Zolo" was, in a happier time.

EDIT: Was that Zoppi doing Kanga? Ehhhh........

Just finished watching it as well ^-^ it was so cool! If I haven't seen it, its new to me!

It sure was nice hearing MaddieMeowth and VeronicaAsh again :-D And the Kanga baby was really cute.

Oh, I loved that one sledding scene, and of course the nastalgic music :)

And I agree with Lil Brother, the ending credits definetly had to have come from the japanese episode, just not the music. The music was indeed awful! It played the same track over and over, I say more than 10 times.

Other than that I really loved this episodes, it puts me in the christmas spirit.
