Review PK24: Meloetta's Moonlight Serenade

I hope they have a version without the narrator. Letting the scenes speak for themselves would have been a lot better.

Meowth's lines were atrocious.

To anyone wondering, here are the lyrics to the song that I assume is titled "I wanna dance."

Dance, dance, dance.
We wanna dance forever.
Dance, it's our last chance to laugh and sing together.

Boogie, boogie, boogie, boogie, you and me.
Move it, move it, move it, to the melody.
Twist it and turn it, feelin the light.
Can't stop loving the music inside!

So clap your hands! To the beat!
Feel the rhythm in your dancing feet!
It feels so good. Let's make it last.
Celebrate. Oh, what a blast!

Dance, dance, dance.
We wanna dance forever.
Dance, it's our last chance to laugh and sing together.
I wanna feel like I'm up in the sky, learning to fly.
Yeah, it's clear to me that these are the best days of our lives.

Dance, dance, dance. (I wanna dance)
We wanna dance forever.
Dance, it's our last chance (last chance) to laugh and sing together.

C'mon everybody! Let's dance!
1 2 3. 1 2 3 4!

I wanna dance. (Dance ×17)
Forever and ever.

I wanna feel like I'm up in the sky, learning to fly.
Yeah, it's clear to me that these are the best days of our lives.
I wanna dance forever.
Dance, dance, dance.
We wanna dance forever.
Dance, it's our last chance (last chance) to laugh and sing together.
Yeah!

"Meloetta's Moonlight Serenade" summed up:
- Meloetta is due to perform a concert, but has a rider list that must be fulfilled or she'll refuse to play.
- The rider list is completed and she starts off with a slow song.
- Then she turns into Pirouette Forme and it becomes a rave.
- Should I be able to see all these colours while sober?
The End.

Moral of the story: Meloetta knows how to party.

Saw the Japanese version with English subtitles, and even though I like it, it does have its cheesy moments. And to think it all began when Meowth angers the Crustle, causing it to use Sandstorm...

I really love Meloetta, though. :3

This short was really cute, my only problem was the narrator.

I do somehow like the end song...

That ending song was a blast from the past! Though I am not sure whether it was intentional or not, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and the Ending Song really took me back to the late 90s, early 2000s! Nice?

Ooh, a new Pikachu short... *clicks.

Several minutes later...

wut. I liked it and all, but it was... odd. First, was the narrator... Nurse Joy? Also, apparently Pikachu can change the shape of his tail? And Vine Whip is sturdy enough to secure several Pokemon to a Drifblim? And the wind changes direction a bazillion times during the Drifblim ride? And Meloetta can't sing at all without the berries and their trippy light show? Either way, it was OK. It was nice to see the older Pokemon pop up, and the Pichu Bros. cameo. Also Meowth and Wobbuffet getting raped blasted off by the Diglett was hilarious.

The narrator honestly sounded a bit bored at times, though her soft-spoken voice was pleasant enough and I didn't find her to be particularly intrusive overall.

Meowth's infatuation with Meloetta continues to be adorable. He definitely had more class in his interactions with her than did a certain Shedding pokemon. Scraggy's efforts to cheer Meloetta up by sending an evil leer her way were...a little peculiar. ;p

That was an amusing short.

Meowth's lines weren't nearly as awful as they were in DP, still I wish TPCi would just have him talk normally and his fawning for Meloetta is still entertaining somewhat. Also glad Piplup and Oshawott weren't swooning for Meloetta like in the show, they're both insanely annoying when they do that. I really liked seeing all the mascots and marketable Pokemon together. This short proved TPCi can record half-decent replacement music for the dub, the openings just tend to be short so we never hear the full thing, the reason they're short are due to Cartoon Network's ad restriction. I wish Togepi had another baby appear alongside it to sorta have someone to bounce off of since the toddlers had a fun little moment with Meloetta and I enjoyed Axew and Scraggy's little spat and Scraggy's ornery nature never disappoints. The lake scene was entertaining, I liked how Oshawott's scalchop was made out to be so strong it could toss a freaking Squirtle by simply being thrown at it. The girls all had a nice moment together, nice to see Chikorita. I continue to be glad that Emolga had her voice retained. Animation was superb, that was truly amazing animation. Meloetta singing being able to calm the toddlers was nice, her singing continues to be like a mini chill pill for me. Makes me feel kinda mellow and it is some nice singing. Last minute forme change was cool too. Also didn't forget to mention Psyduck freaking out and Croagunk just being all silent, cool scenes. Piplup and Oshawott were more tolerable in this than ever, I wish their comedy was this level and as amusing as it was here without going overboard. Yay for non-ugly CGi, the Melody Berries and final recital scenes.

Uh... Why didn't Emonga fly, when all of them were falling down?

She seemed to be gliding.

Typical overly cutesy short, and I was reminded of some previous movie shorts at a few points.

The ending theme was surprisingly catchy. Electronic dance music in the Pokemon anime, who'da thunk it?

I...I just loved it! It was so refreshing to hear Meloetta's GOOD singing voice (this is someone who literally never watches the show subbed) for a change, there were a lot of cute and/or pretty scenes, and it managed to be quite funny at some parts, too. The narrator didn't bother me much; I felt that aspect of it just added to the storybook feel. The credits sequence was very entertaining, too. ^^

As the first short I've seen in years, this was completely wonderful in my opinion. :)

I really enjoyed watching it. I love the pokemon shorts. Although my only problem is the over usage of vine whip. My god.
