I just recently finished Platinum and today I finally finished Diamond (on ROM's of course >_>). Anyways for those who played Platinum and Diamond OR Pearl, did Platinum seem easier to some of you? Idk I played Platinum first, and then when I played Diamond it seemed more complicated for some strange reason. Or did some of you find Platinum to be difficult, or were all the games very simple and/or hard?

Edit: goddamn that is horrible punctuation and etc but just go with the flow. >_>

For me, it had to do with Pokémon availability between DP and Platinum. More Pokémon choices were available in Platinum, such as Houndoom and Octillery. However, Platinum is a better game for long-term training, not counting the upcoming HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Perhaps it's just a case of knowing what to expect. Emerald seemed much easier to me than Ruby did, anyway...

EDIT: Huh, I didn't realise you completed Platinum first. Well, in that case I've no idea.

Well I don't know about easier, because by that time I had completed the Sinnoh games a couple of times and so they were already easy. But Platinum was definitely better. And I find Diamond much more simple. It was just.. boring after the whole Dialga thing.

I haven't played D/P but I beat the Pokèmon league pretty quick and since getting it back in June I've gotten 460 Pokèmon... at least... Hurray for GTS:B

they were both as easy. In both I picked torterra, trained no one but him, and beat the game very easy (yes, I didn't have any problems with Cynthia at all on both games)

I would call Platinum the "definitive" version of Diamond and Pearl. Considering there is much more action to it, the pokemon/trainers are harder than in D&P.

However, The Elite Four was sure as hell easier than DP (4-5 levels). To make up for this, the Elite Four after you beat the game is THE hardest Elite Four you'll ever fight. Level 78 Garchomps- higher leveled than any pokemon owned by a computer character in DP. Not to mention you'll fight Level 65 gym leaders. And not speak about the Battle Frontier... If fighting 170 battles in a row is simple, then I don't know what "not simple" is.

red's pikachu was 81 in Mt. Silver

I found platinum to be much easier. I think this was due to the fact that I actually used the concepts of type coverage and natures and EV's on an in game team for the first time.

Having a completed diamond copy allowed me to breed a team of powerful Pokes that you wouldn't get until later in Platinum so I started off with a better team. To show this, here was my team:

Chimchar (eventually Infernape, was plat's starter)
Piplup (bred on Diamond to be a special sweeper, eventually Empoleon)
Riolu (bred on Diamond to special sweep, eventually Lucario)
Scyther (bred on Diamond to be a physical sweeper and wall, eventually Scizor)
Starly (flyer, eventually Staraptor)
Dratini (physical sweeper, eventually Dragonite)

so I think Platinum was only easier for me because I made it that way.

I see. In Platinum my main guys were Infernape and Garchomp which just swept everyone.

Although in Diamond I decided to switch it up and had Empoleon. I must say, whether it was his nature or something, but that Pokemon was horrible, I didn't even use him for about 80% of the game. By the time I caught Dialga he was at level 31 in my Box. Anyways my my main guys in Diamond were Gastrodon lvl 81, Starapdor lvl 60, and Roserade lvl 67. I was surprised how badass Gastrodon and Roserade were. So idk maybe if I picked Ape or Torterra the game outcome would have been different. Also what confused me the most is that they switched the Gyms in D/P and Platinum.

I might start playing Pearl and start with Turtwig since it's the only starter I've neglected and even though I heard D&P are the exact same thing, I just think that with different Pokemon excluded and a different starter, the game outcome might be different.

Platinum was easier than Diamond/Pearl, yes.

Candice, Volkner, Bertha and Flint dropped their wild cards and became full-on, boring Monotypists. It does make a difference in the long run, especially in the Elite Four. They all can be fell with a single Pokémon, which wasn't possible before, and only Candice seemed to be smart enough to make up for it.

And as said above, the Elite Four is Level 62 max, compared with Diamond/Pearl's Level 66. There's more battles and Trainers along the way too, so the gap between Volkner and the Elite Four isn't as big.

It's much better a game than Diamond/Pearl, though I dislike they removed such a promising tidbit as Gym Leaders/Elites not being full Monotypists anymore. Such a shame.

Easier?

I find it harder. It's the hardest handheld Pokemon game, for me. The Elite Four is just..

I've gotten so far on Diamond, (training my whole team) that now Platinum just seems boring. Occasionally, I'll be like, "Pfft, here comes Empoleon and down goes Roark's Cranidos..." And find my self with a Prinplup knowing Bubble, Peck, Withdraw, and Pound <.<

My biggest problem was that, in Platinum, the major changes come after the Elite 4. Everything before then was pretty much the same, so I had a hard time motivating myself to get it done.

Platinum is both easy and hard for me.

The elite four is damn hard on the 1st time but i think thats cos i got like:
Lv71 Infernape
Lv48 Giratina
Lv49 Floatzel
Lv48 Lucario and a lv41 Rhydon for decoy

PLatinum is easy now that i got my national dex =D (Reveals new areas and trainers to fight)
Hope the elite four won't change into lv70-80+ pokemon (would it?) after i go to Stark Mountain
My pokemon team is now around lv70-80+ but i don't wanna have hard times at the Pokemon league
I wanna get money easily so i can buy the furniture for my villa.
