Today, Play! Pokémon have revealed the latest rules for the 2011-2012 Trading Card Game and Video Game formats.

Why ban the move Dark Void of Darkrai himself is banned? ._.; Seems kinda redundant.

Because in past Video Game Championship events, people would use Smeargle with Dark Void. Back then, it wasn't much of a problem, but now that Smeargle has access to the Moody ability, players can use Dark Void to stall for quite some time while waiting for Moody's stat boosts before baton passing.

Im so glad they are letting us use all the pokemon now....i did not want to leave my shiny blaziken behind when i go.

Ohh...oh yeah, I forgot about Smeargle. D8; I didn't think people still used him as a lead, I thought that trend went down.

So Dark Void is banned but Spore isn't? Seems a bit odd.

Well, Spore only affects 1 target at a time, whereas Dark Void affects 2.

Ooh yes, this looks like a really-balanced metagame this time around, unlike that horribly-broken 2010 VGC. Looks like my Sandstorm team is gonna come in use :)

Balanced? Well, with Politoed, Tyranitar and Abomasnow flying around (and to a lesser extent, Ninetales), it's going to be a weather-dominated year, just like 2010 >>
