Do you guys go as quickly as you can through each route, beat the trainers, and move on? Or, do you stick around and catch each and every pokemon in that route... even those 1% chance ones?

I'll usually take my time working through each route, leveling up my team, and taking down trainers. Usually I don't worry too much about completing my Dex until after I'm done with the E4.

This. Besides, I read every message, talk with every trainer and/or NPC. Also, in the case of DPt, I use the Dowsing Machine in every place and corner I can so I don't miss a single hidden item. I like to explore and get everything from the game; think of me as a sort of 'completionist'.

I rush and go back if I need something. :P Most of the dialog I skip unless it feels like an important cut scene (I pretty much always mash the A button through gym leader monologues). I know it's kinda bad, but eh I'm just used to it. Plus I can usually get what I need to know even while mashing since I read fast. As for leveling up, I'm one of those who commonly goes into everything under leveled and comes out by the skin of their teeth. Makes me feel more accomplished I suppose. Kinda just something I'm used to these days, you know, running into a battle against a monster everyone says you should be level "x" and I'm level "x-15"... xDDDD

I like to be realistic. So, I usually kinda just meander here and there and eventually find my way to the next town when I feel like it. Which is usually why I always have a stage-2 starter and a Gyrados by the second gym.

Generally speaking, I try to catch all of the pokémon possible as I go along. Since I'm usually leveling up my team in every area available, this isn't too difficult (though I don't try for rares until I've beaten the game). I also have a thing about evolving as many pokémon as possible while I play my way through the game. So I get... really weird teams. But it comes in handy, sometimes. And saves me the trouble of having to do it down the road.

I'm the kind of person who will read every stupid single letter of dialogue, visit every building, use the itemfinder anywhere I can (usually after the game), and... yeah. I'm pretty thorough. And surprisingly, it really doesn't take too long for me to play through a game.

I tend to take my time. One can't rush things in real life, not if they don't wanna mess up.

Usually, I will beat all the trainers and catch all the Pokémon on a particular route, but I usually won't train them that much, leaving my team underlevelled by the time I reach the E4, the exception being Platinum, where I painstakingly trained my Pokémon everytime I got ready to fight a Gym Leader or the E4.

I'll always raise my pokemon to a point where I know I'll beat the upcoming gym leader/rival battle. The only time I'll catch every pokemon I come across is if it's a new generation.

I used to be one of those rush rush rush kind of people, but I just restarted my Sapphire version and I have slowed wayyy down, and captured every single possible pokemon type in each area. This is including leveling up two wurmples to get Dustox and Beautifly. I just look up which ones are supposed to be there in the 'pedia, then keep leveling while I wait to catch 'em.

It depends if it's my first run through I battle every trainer and catch every species of pokemon on every route. If its another run through I usually do a speed run.

I battle all the trainers, but don't bother catching all the Pokemon. If it's my first run, I try and get all the items, too, but later on I don't b other with stuff I'm not going to need. I'm more interested in training Pokemon than catching them, anyway.

I usually battle all th trainers but only go after the pokemon if it is particularly necessary.I don't bother about my Pokedex until after the E4.

I go at a steady pace, but i arrive at the E4 with seriously underleveled Poké's, I battle wild pokemon and never really capture them unless it could become a true contender on my team

I just try to beat every trainer in my way, read or collect everything I see, and avoid tall grass whenever possible. When I see wild Pokémon, however, I stay and fight and try to catch it if I don't have one. If a Pokémon I love gets away, I would keep trying to find a new one until I catch one.

Beat every trainer using starter only. Catch a pokemon to teach an HM move if required. Then move on. Train other pokemon after game is finished. Of course, catch a legendary if encountered.

I have a very systematic training method. I only select certain types of pokemon, one type for each slot. All of these pokemon must be in the same gen, and must also evolve. I do not catch any other pokes than what make up my team anymore, but I will lug around a HM slave for as long as I can. I do my dex completion after I have completed the game. I fight all the trainers I can find. If I miss any, then I was either absent-minded, or they're hidden very well. I only use wild pokes to train to L:10 before fighting the first trainers, or to train new pokes in my team to the same level as the others. (I use equal levels) Finally, I refuse to use healing items. I run to the Pokemon Center if I need healing. This means it takes me longer to beat the E4 and champion, but the training and satisfaction of beating them without healing is well worth the sacrifice.

I usually just go through the game quickly while occasionally catching Pokemon here and there, and then when I'm done with the E4 I go back and start working on filling the National Dex.

Or, do you stick around and catch each and every pokemon in that route... even those 1% chance ones?

This. Especially on the original new gen games. On the 3rd version I tend to do it less. (like do it on d/p, not on platinum, do it on r/s, not in emerald)
