Hi all,

I'm Punkreader. I've been a Pokemon fan ever since I started with Red on my Gameboy Color when I was five. I'm a member of several other non-related sites, but I really don't think all but one are relevant here. I'm a member of the TV Tropes wiki, which definitely is going to influence my writing style, and references I make. If I start referring to myself in the third-person, or using TV Tropes "WikiWords" without a courtesy link, give me a tap on the shoulder, would you please?

Now, as for other things related to an introduction... Here's basic info:

  • I'm a senior in high school.
  • I actually really *am* a girl.
  • I enjoy every subject in school except for mathematics and phys. ed.
  • I am highly-enthused about the sciences, and I want to go into medicine, or into a scientific field, specifically microbiology and/or infectious disease specialist.
  • I also really, really enjoy writing fiction -- both fanfiction and original fiction -- and I get restless if I don't write anything for awhile.
  • I speak, read, and write German as a foreign language, albiet with serious gaps in my understanding of certain grammar concepts.
  • I have physical and learning disabilities and a crapload of medical conditions, but on this forum, they really shouldn't show much; however, I'm always open to questions about that sort of stuff - if you've something you want to ask, ask.
  • I'm a gamer, but I'm not a "gamer chick" - I enjoy just about everything except for racing and most puzzle/shooter games (mostly due to vision issues).
  • I love to read, and I always have lots of questions -- yes, you can expect me to ask them.

So, now that I've been more chatty than I normally am with that list up there, it's nice to meet you all!

Also, calling me "Punk" for short is perfectly fine with me.

Hello! We take kindly to polite types around these parts, so I reckon you'll do just fine.

Welcome Punkreader to BMGf, or properly known as Bulbagarden Forums. Please enjoy your time here.

Welcome to the forums, Punkreader! Please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions! :)

Hi Punk, welcome to Bulbagarden. I'm a veteran pokemon fan too. Hope you enjoy your stay.

@all: Thank you for your warm welcomes! Now that I've done some lurking, I'm absolutely positive I'll enjoy my time here! :)

@Shiny Shinx: Oh? How so? :D

@Aurasoul: Woot! That's awesome! ...Wait. We're known as "veteran" Pokemon fans? We can't all be that old!

@Ghost: Thank you! Rest assured that I'll be getting in touch. :)

Also, I'm just going to put this out for the record, I suppose: I don''t ever use my real name on the 'Net, and a grand whopping total of 3 or 4 people who I haven't met in Real Life know it, and only then because they've demonstrated that they won't misuse the information. Besides, Googling my name doesn't bring much of anything up anyway! XD Please don't ask for a name. I'll give you something silly if you do. Also, I don't post pictures of myself. I have a Flickr, though, that I am very careful with; I don't have a Facebook or a Myspace or any of those other things (and I don't want one, either); I do have a Twitter, but I don't use it much; I don't do IM or anything that smells like a chain-message. In general, I'm not fond of the whole social networking deal that most people my age have taken up. I find it in large part to be boring and trite; no amount of attempted pressure or persuasion is going to change this. Sorry.

I greatly appreciate it when people are honest with me, and genuine. It is my personal philosophy that everyone deserves respect, whether I agree with them or not. The same goes for others' beliefs: even if they're on the opposite end of the spectrum from mine (with exceptions made for Nazi-ism and hategroups), they should be treated with respect; this goes for religion, politics, spirituality, and all the other kinds of beliefs. A final word: One of my few true Berserk Buttons: is bashing/displaying gross ignorance regarding people with disabilities. I'm generally pretty even-tempered, but if I see that occurring, I won't pull any punches. None. Got it? Good.

Now to go add an Avatar and signature...

Also, I've got impaired vision, and I'm having trouble actually reading and seeing the forum. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on what I could do to help myself in that regard? A specific skin, or something? Thanks! :D

Welcome to Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden forums! Also, that's some pretty powerful text you've written there, far better than anything my mind has spat out (believe me, I don't stop trying). ;) Also, you should know that I have four full-time disabilites, so you're one of many who's different in society ^^;
