Ignoring, for the moment, the fact that it is not in widescreen and lacks opening animation, consider the following facts:

1. The storyboard is by Yuyama Kunihiko - he usually handles the storyboards of the movies (except the shorts) and a few special episodes (EP001, AG001).
2. The director is Yuyama Kunihiko - he usually directs the movies (long and short) - neither Hidaka Masamitsu (former director of the TV anime), nor
Sudō Norihiko (current director of the TV anime).
3. There are executive producers, only found in movies (long and short), and, they are Kubo Masakazu and Itō Kenjirō (same as M9).
4. It is animated by Team Koitabashi (i.e. the production manager is Koitabashi Tsukasa) - they have done the movies (excluding shorts 1 - 3), the Winter Vacations (except the first one), Crystal, Mirage, and some of the side story episodes.
5. There are music producers: Shinohara Kazuo and Saitō Yūji (same as M6 - 9). Music producers are only found in the movies (long and short). However, this is perhaps because the music is all-new (as with the movies).
6. There are special thanks for the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon staff - in contrast, no such special thanks for the Pokémon Ranger staff in AG155 or AG171. Special thanks are, however, normal in the movies (long and short).

Only point 4 applies to Mirage. None of the points apply to the ANA shorts. Points 2, 3 and 5 also apply to 3D short 2; points 2 and 5 also apply to 3D short 1.

...possibly. Personally, I think the status "movie" should be reserved for those that actually appear in theatres. I see this as being a TV special more than anything else.

It also didn't have that movie polish to it. It just LOOKED like an extended episode, rather than an a movie.

That could, however, be due to the film → television conversion process.

Now, of course, if it does not appear in theatres then it is not a movie, however, that does not mean it did not start out that way...

Actually, I did see it in one point somewhere in widescreen on television. I specifically made a note to myself that I saw it.

Well, obviously they wouldn't give it Movie Quality animation..

But for a made for tv movie, the animation was top notch.

I do wonder if it started out as a movie that eventually got edited down (either by the Japanese animators or by PUSA) to a 30-minute episode...it happens all the time with animated projects like this. I've only seen like the first five minutes or so of the special, but what I saw seemed really really rushed.

It gets better, the end seemed okay to me, and left alot of loose ends.

The game has a lot of loose ends too, for instance, your character never gets turned back into a human . . .

Well duh, then you would have to restart!

Nah, there are ways around that. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance ended with the world it was taken place being destroyed, but you can still play on from that point.

Oh, really?

Aww, that's kind of sad. :-(

I mean, I thought for sure that, once you play through the whole game, you would eventually find out why you got turned into a Pokemon and then later, you finally get turned back to normal. O.O

Hmm, interesting, there seem to be many differences between Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (the special, and also the games) and my favorite Pokemon episode ("Hocus Pokemon").

I am loving this "humans being turned into Pokemon" thing that they're doing right now. XD

And speaking of which, this is kinda off-topic for this thread, but I miss Ashachu (Satochu). The poor little guy, he didn't get much screen time at all. They need to have him make another appearance, because sadly, they really didn't elaborate much on that storyline, and they kinda rushed the whole thing.......

Hehe, if I'm lucky, maybe in Shinou the writers will have Ash get turned into a Pikachu a second time. XD

Though, I highly doubt that would happen given the fact that Shinou has different writers than Johto (I think).
