Recently I found a program which I believe is absolutely incredible for streaming media files of literally any format over a network to either other computers or the Sony Playstation Portable and Playstation 3 called PMP Streamer. Perhaps the coolest thing about this program is that no special software is needed to get the streamed files on the client computers other than a Flash enabled web browser. This would be very useful if you have one computer with lots of media files you want to view on other computers or compatible video game consoles which have Flash enabled web browsers. I personally have been using this program for a while now and tested the flash interface on computers with processors as slow as 600 MHz successfully but for the server computer I recommend one with a processor of at least 1 GHz or faster. The program's installer also includes the binaries for the Playstation Portable client software for either 1.5 or custom firmware systems (I don't think this works on systems with 2.0+ official firmware.) For Windows Vista users who are planning to use this with a Playstation Portable you must install the binaries separately for some reason why exactly I am not sure and you might also have firewall issues like I did with Norton Internet Security but otherwise you should be just fine. The program can be downloaded from here http://www.pimpware.org/?page_id=26 but it is listed as PiMP Streamer in the download section just to make sure that you don't download the wrong program as there are other ones available from the same site. This program is also free but the developer recommends a donation if you like it as is the case with most freeware applications.
