hello,
I was wondering if anyone has information on Pocket Monster cards made in Japan in 1997. 95% of the card is written in Japanese. Even though I am only half Japanese, i can only read a little bit. They are copyrighted under Nintendo CREATURES GAMEFREAK TV TOKYO SHO-PRO JR KIKAKU.
on the front: it has the picture of the pokemon, its name and i think its strongest attack. the cards are numbered "FILE No.004", "FILE No.005", "FILE No.006" and so on. The top right corner has the Pocket Monsters logo in Japanese and the bottom of the card has the words "POCKET MONSTERS" in english.
on the back: starting from the top, it has the copright information, the file number, the pokemon's name, type, information, small picture of the pokemon with its height and weight. (<-- that's all in the top half) below there is a little diagram saying what level each pokemon evolve (if they do in fact evolve), in the bottom right hand corner going down, it has the pokemon's strongest attack, the PP of the strongest attack, what type of pokemon the attack is strongest against (e.g. Charmander - grass, ice and insect), also a small description of the attack (my guess). on the bottom left hand corner is a diagram showing the frequency in which you will see the pokemon in pokemon red, blue and green (some pokemon just have NO DATA there instead (e.g. Charmander), at the very bottom it has the creator's name in japanese (my guess is Banpresto and Bandai) then the year/location it was made which is "1997 MADE IN JAPAN". Each card is colour coded to match the type of pokemon it is (i think - Water pokemon in blue, grass in green and fire in red).
Please, does anyone have information on these cards?

p.s The photo is of the front of my Charmander card and back of my Drowsee card.

Wow, I wish I had some of those. They must be some collectible cards, not ones you play with. Looking at Suriipaa, it seems to have Pokemon info and info of one its attacks. I don't know what the triangle is, but maybe it shows how common the Pokemon is in those three game versions.

OLD SUGIMORI ARTWORK!

Awesome.

That's the living Pokemon history!

Awesome!

I'm a Sugimori Artwork collector, but I've never seen it in my life.

Awesome!

How many such cards do you have?

Wow, those are great! I love the Golem that's already in pieces.

...dude, is that Paras eating a Weedle? XD Maybe it's just an attack. Leech Life, perhaps?

I would so buy these if they were still made and were translated into English. Especially if it meant exclusive Sugimori artwork. :3 I've never had much interest in playing the TCG anyway, so cards focusing on just the "TC" aspect would be cool.

Well, the TCG does have plenty of exclusive Sugimori art. =D

So its true, Charmander did have a bumpy spine early in Pokemon's history.

ALso proof that Pokemon eat Pokemon :p

Grn's right, take a closer look at the image, Weedle is clearly enjoying it.

Also these are pretty cool, and sparking an urge to want to find and collect them. (there's only 150..151 tops, it probably isn't that hard to collect them all once you get the chance)

in the Japanese version, "Leech Life" was きゅうけつ "Kyuuketsu" (Blood Suck). If you'll look at the card, you'll notice the very same Japanese text I just typed appears on there, so yes, it is an attack.

so does anyone have information or know of a plce to get more information about these cards? Like where more can be found or somewhere i could get a value on these cards?

If you have a LiveJournal, you can ask on pkmncollectors. Or if you don't have one and don't want to join, you can type up a post for me and I can ask in your stead.
