Nothing's been confirmed yet, but based on how well-received Pocket Monsters The Origin is I wouldn't be surprised if we ended getting a similar special for the Gold & Silver games at some point in the future. It could come out next year, or the year after, or the year after that...who knows?

So let's assume that a second special *is* coming. Let's also assume that this new special is going to be four episodes long, just like The Origin was, and that it will cover the entirety of the Jouto portion of Gold & Silver (so no Kanto revisit) in that space, also just like The Origin.

What would you like to see? What events from the second generation games would you like to see adapted for the special? Which characters should show up? Who should Gold's starter be? Is there anything the original The Origin did that you don't want them to do for this hypothetical special?

In short: What would you like to see if Pocket Monsters 2 The Origin Gold & Silver became a thing?

I would love to see an epilogue where Gold and Red had the showdown on Mt. Silver. That's really the only key event for me. That and the time travel plot against Giovanni. Actually throw in the GS Ball!

I thought this was confirmed from simply seeing the title.

Where exactly did it say Origins was well-received outside the fandom? Was there a Japanese report on it?

Yeah. While it would be oh so very cool to get other specials for other Generations, let's not count our Pokémon before they're hatched.

How well was Origins received by casual viewers? What were its ratings? Perhaps we should see how well it goes over in other countries first before thinking so far ahead.

While I want to see Gen 2 done RIGHT, I think the producers will want to see if it's worth the trouble first...

Keep in mind that Origins was created at least partially because it was relevant to promotion of the newest generation. If we're getting another game recap special like Origins, it probably wouldn't be about GS just because it was next in line. A RS special to go with RS remakes would be more likely (assuming remakes happen, of course).

That being said, if they do keep making these, I hope at least some of them use the female PCs as heroes, though probably not GS since those were introduced with only a male PC... If they can make a special starring Red when Ash already exists, then using May and Dawn should be no problem, right? Can always give them one of their other default names if they absolutely have to.

I enjoyed Legend of Thunder very much, even though it had an alternate storyline. It was still loosely based on GSC, and I enjoyed Kenta and Marina's quest to save Raikou as well as thrilled with the appearance of Silver, even though it was for three seconds. I'd welcome Origins 2 since it would stay true to the game storyline, and Silver would appear with actually something to say.

I wonder if Crystal would be included in Origins 2? She's the first female playable character, and appeared in Gen2 as well, so we might see her, maybe?

As long as it would keep Typhosion's obnoxious laugh then i would be fine with it

I'd be very welcome to this :) But..I admit that the story for Gold and Silver wasn't very exciting compared to the first generation games. I mean, will it show the protagonist jumping into a well trying to save slowpoke from Team Rocket?

So many things, especially the suicune obsession that eusine has. I would love to see a alternate story, although i did like legend of thunder.

* I'd like to see Ethan and Eusine going after Suicune, after Eusine tells Red all about him and Suicune keeps appearing out of nowhere like the games.
* The finishing battle being Ethan vs Red, with Red pretty much saying ...
* Ethan receiving a GS Ball in the Epilogue and trying to find and capture Celebi
* A Rival who is exactly like Silver, steals a Pokemon in the beginning, and the bad things he says throughout the special.
* When Ethan finds Entei/Raikou, to use Mean Look to try and keep them from running away.
* Ethan saving the Slowpoke in Slowpoke Well.
* The Unown music near where the Unown are found and Ethan catching them all.
* The Team Rocket music when they take over the Radio Tower.
* Longer Gym battles if possible, and all 16 of them included.
* A lot of Dialog as to how things have changed in several years since Red/Blue.

Hopefully this special does happen, cause I really enjoyed the first one.

If Pokemon Origins 2 were to surface, I can see the Johto half being structured into four episodes:

- Episode 1: Gold (beginning of game, picking starter, rival encounter, Togepi egg, first gym)
- Episode 2: Suicune (Bugsy and Whitney battles, Burned Tower legend, battle against Morty, Eusine, Chuck and Jasmine battles)
- Episode 3: Team Rocket (Pryce battle; Red Gyarados; Lance; Team Rocket's Hideout and Radio Tower battles)
- Episode 4: Ho-Oh/Lugia (Clair battle; battles against Kimono Girls, calling Ho-Oh and Lugia, Pokemon League)

How was it well received? did it rate well in japan? because the special wasn't that popular around the pokemon community.

4.7% so it wasn't bad. At least it did better than most of the average pokemon episodes.

This person kept a list of all tv ratings of pokemon in Japan, so I think it is pretty accurate

Honestly, the rating is nothing super special, especially since this was four episodes and regular Pokemon episodes usually get around that anyway and double episodes get much larger numbers, since this special isn't particularly merchandise driven anyway and the main mission in life of it was to bring back older fans for XY and tie in Mega Evolution I don't just see them up and making another one. I haven't even seen a source that suggested it was well-received outside of the "fandom" anyway. Especially since these cost money to make and collaborate with another studio and I don't see another one being commissioned for no reason.

My intention in creating this thread was for it to act as a "what if" for a potential Gold & Silver special, not to discuss how popular the Origin special that already exists was.

Back on topic, I'd really like to see the Radio Tower takeover animated and to hear a remix of the music that plays during that part of the game. Seeing the Jouto Four Heavenly Emperors on my TV screen would be welcome as well.

Well... considering the older fans would use the Internet to watch Pokemon Origins, I guess that rating isn't really a good source to measure whether it was a success or not.

But I'd still welcome an Origins 2, even if it were just something like Legend of Thunder. How many times do we get a pokemon special that features none of Ash & crew anyways? It's a nice change of air once in a while.

TPC isn't making any money off people who watch illegal streams of their shows, so they have no reason to care that people watched it online. Besides, I'm sure plenty of people watch the main anime online instead of on TV where it counts towards ratings.

I'm not too sure if this will happen since they're really only focusing on Generation 1 at this point. Just look at all the Mega Evolutions for Generation 1 alone. I think they're more focusing on marketing them than Generation Two. Plus we got that "Legend of Thunder" special way back when.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a sequel for Johto, but I just don't see it in the cards.

Seeing how I enjoyed watching Pokémon Origins, I wouldn't mind seeing a Gen 2 one (or a Gen 3 one either). I just think it would have been much better timing if they had started these before HeartGold & SoulSilver came out.
