The October 2009 issue of CoroCoro Comics features the first chapter of a new manga series called Pocket Monsters HGSS "Jou's Big Adventure" (ポケットモンスターHGSS ジョウの大冒険).
The chapter stars Jou, a Pokemon Trainer based on the male hero of HG/SS. His partner is a Waninoko who he refers to as his "brother."
The first chapter begins with him facing off against the first Gym Leader, Hayato. After he (barely) wins, he starts on the way to Hiwada City. On the way, however, he comes across the HGSS rival and battles against his Chicorita. It's a tough battle, but he finally comes out on top through sheer determination.
The chapter ends with Jou arriving in Hiwada Town and seeing the Rocket-Dan attack Gantetsu.
The manga is...alright, but it really hasn't done anything new or exciting to grab my attention yet. One of Jou's things is that he "battles with the pokemon" by running around during the battle and jumping in front of any attack that looks like it'll hurt.
I'll probably post a more detailed synopsis of the chapter later.
