"Pocket" Monsters

So, we all know that the show's title is Pocket Monsters, right?

Well, I was thinking, and...have we actually ever seen a trainer keep any of the show's titular characters in their pockets? Everyone seems to carry their Monster Balls around on their belts, or in their bags. I don't recall ever seeing anyone actually produce a Monster Ball from their pocket.

Are there any instances of a character actually keeping one of their pocket monsters in their pocket?

James does. When he gave Chimecho's Poké Ball to the old couple in that one episode. It fell out of his pocket. The rest of his Poké Balls came out too.

Just to let you guys know that the Original Title that Game Freak has planned for this franchise was "Capsule Monsters". But since that name been taken, they resort to "CapuMon"; but as you expected, the name sucks. So they went ahead and named it Pocket Monsters for the GameBoy Pocket that was released at the time. Later, the international release of the franchise can't be called that because of an existing game "Monsters in my Pocket"; so they called it by its abbreviation, "Pokemon".

There, I just explain the entire story behind the name. "Pocket" Refers to the kind of console that you usually find the main games at. It means squat in the anime, or any kind the story that the games and media produced.

I think it might be "pocket" as a means of making them seem small rather than that's where people actually keep them.

(in DPA, Hareta kept the Master Ball in the leg pocket of his cargo pants, but nothing was in it)

Pockets are pretty much never used. Brock's pockets? The mystery...
though I do think I saw once his croagunk coming out of his Pocket in the 'losing its lustrous' episode. But I'm not sure.

I thought "pocket" was referring to the fact that Gameboys fit in your pocket and thus your monsters too.

I think they're just called that because they're pocket-sized balls. Same goes for the Pokemon until they're sent out.

What about DP096... Croagunk could be seen coming out of Brock's pocket when Saturn let his Toxicroak out during the Team Galactic attack.
