Japan has to wait till February to see a way out of date special (I mean, the'll probably be in the D/P region by then). At least this signifies the anime will continue for a while.
 
Wow, and I thought continuity would be messed up for the U.S. with this special.

Japan won't get this special till we're in the D/P saga, how the heck is this supposed to fit in then?!??!
