Hello Everynyan!
It's been a while since I posted something here (mainly because I've been focusing on my novel), but whenever I've felt a particularly strong emotion, I tend to write a poem about it, to try and get it off my chest. These last few weeks have been very confusing for me, so I've naturally went to try and put it into words to hopefully put these feelings to rest, but this time I've decided to share what I wrote instead of leaving it kept in a file somewhere on my laptop forever. I won't tell you what the poem is about because I think that spoil things (I wonder if you could figure it out? =3). Anyway, here's my poem: Even the smallest light...:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
When my tired eyes turn to the cold, dreary night sky,
Its ever expanding emptiness becomes my icy mirror;
All I see is what could be there. What should be there.

On the rare nights when I see a dim star shining,
I reach my arms out with all my might, but it is never in my grasp.
Please, why can’t you light up, warm up, my cold night sky?

The fears ravaged my mind like the angriest plague.
I knew reaching for the sun was a bad idea. I was stupid.
But I had to know if you could light up my world.

I fear that I’ve followed the steps of Icarus.
Have my heart’s wings been scorched by your brightest sun?
Have I been burned by these ice cold flames yet again?

Now the stars feel further away than before.
When I see their small faded lights, they become covered by the clouds,
Leaving my nights darker and colder than before.

I want to turn back the clock, to scatter these clouds.
I cannot have a sunny day but I want your star in my sky.
I’d rather have some of your light than none at all.

I sincerely hope my scorched wings heal in time,
But for now I cherish nothing more than your small light in my night sky.
So I beg of you, please don’t stop shining for me.

So yeah, feel free to comment, share your thoughts and maybe even try to annotate it? =3
