Title translates to "Dreams and Hopes Fade". Just a little poem about hope.

Mugen to Ategoto no Shibomu

Living life this way
Everything's the same
Day in, day out
Reminded of my pain

Things change around me
Yet I remain unchanged
Ignorant of others
As they are ignorant of me

I want to reach out to somebody
Find someone to free me
From suffering, from memories
But none answer my plea

Am I doomed to loneliness
As my dreams and hopes fade
Will I ever find solace
From the darkness that consumes me

Sunlight streams through my window
A reminder of the hope that remains
I pray that the future
Is brighter than the dawn of today

It's my opinion that all poetry should have a common tie, be it verse, repetition, alliteration, assonance, consonance, theme, stanza length, chronology, or anything else the poet conjures, unless, of course, stream of consciousness is the unifying element. It strengthens the style in which it's written and makes it flow.

When I got into this poem, the first thought in my mind was depression, but in the last two stanzas you begin to see that, while the narrator is in a perpetual darkness, he still has faith that he'll be happy again. I'm probably overanalysing, but seeing an "abac" verse pattern leaves a sense of "dark, wanting out, returning to darkness, then seeing there might be a way to be in the light."

Good poetry makes me go insane when I review it. :sweatlol:

[edit]
And I forgot to comment that Evangelion is indeed an awesome anime. *huggles Kaoru* :kawaii:!
