I wasn't quite sure where to put this - this is the effective webmaster's forum now though so I figure here's as good a place as any.

I'm sure a friendly admin would move it if I got it wrong *cough*Kasumi*cough* :p.

Basically, as you may, or through lack of giving a shit, may not know, Pokecharms has been down since yesterday (Unless you were lucky enough not to be caught by the propegation of the new DNS until later) 'cause what should have been a simple domain transfer effectively got fucked in the ass.

Basically, they want me to buy the domain back on the original providers, then pay to transfer it across to the new intended providers - essentially screwing me out of more money. :/

Unfortunately, aside from the minor issue of not actually having the money for said purchase yet, there's also bunk all I can do until Monday when I can place the money into my account to pay for it.

So, broken links, iimages etc will probably have to do with that - so expect to see about a hundred freewebs pages completely blank as all they have on them are leeched sprites from 'Charms. Little scamps.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused but it's out of my hands really. :/

That sucks, your site was pretty cool. I especially liked the review of the 386 Pokemon, lol.

Anything I can do to help?

When executing domain transfers, be sure to do it a few weeks before your registration expires. Don't want to be stuck in DNS limbo.

Learning that the hard way... :/

Though the transfer itself was in limbo for the past 2 weeks. Apparently no-one on the other end bothered to reply to the transfer request....

... isn't that supposed to be yourself? But I guess if the registrar doesn't ask you for authorisation then you'd be stuck.

On the other hand, did you remember to release the transfer lock on your domain name?

That may have been the problem.

That was problem number 1. The option to do so in the first place had been "mistakenly removed" for my account. Presumably because of a combination of me dropping hosting services but continuing with the domain (It was a 2 year contract) AND a complete change and overhaul in their system.

I was told they had manually unlocked it for me. If this wasn't the case then there's not a great deal I can do in that situation.

Well, all the best in transferring to a new registrar with a non-broken user interface.

Finally back online today, but the transfer still has to go through again.

Hopefully, there shouldn't be any more downtime as a result of it though.
