This is NOT intended for flamebait however it can evolve into one...

Everytime you walk into a pokemon center, the nurse rushes your pokemon, and revives them from a faint, poison, being completely frozen solid, heavily burnt, paralysis, and other ailments in less than 3 seconds. Not only that, its 100% free.

So, what does everyone think about the fact that pokemon has the worlds greatest healthcare system (or at least veterinarian healthcare)

Whats wierder is that they never pay any taxes. Have you ever seen Ash pay taxes? Furthermore, how often do they even buy things? Half the time, brock pulls food from random places, and they are given free meals most of the time. Since Ash gets no money at all, since he doesn't have a job, does this make Pokemon a communist or socialist state?

Discuss. Please, intellectual discussion, no flaming please

See, this is what the new healthcare bill will do for the U.S

I agree. It does seem the perfect plan. Pokemon Trainers are so lucky.

Sounds more like something from Plato's Republic or Thomas Mores, idea of Utopia. Cept for a few baddies it is not a bad description. But than again, fictional world means anything is possible even the impossible.

no flaming please

By saying that you are really asking for it.

You know, I've been wondering for a few years now just how Ash has been to pay for everything. I figure it's prize. As for the health care, I'm jealous. Wish our vet good fix up our dog and cat that fast and well.

The Pokemon world is some sort of Socialist Utopia where war and "non-League" violence is eradicated, with the exception of the Teams. As such, almost anyone could probably conquer their lands if they have a strong enough army, technology, and Pokemon. Taking out healthcare would cripple the Pokemon state, and allow easier conquest.

And the player does not pay income taxes (as far as we know), but you are only 10/12. I am sure that there are massive taxes on everything for adults. Perhaps this is why Pokeballs are 200 P each.

You know that in the Japanese games they just use yen, right? And since currently 90.37 yen = 1 US Dollar, that means every ball cost less than 2,5 dollars. Not very expensive really.

I know that. To me, as an American, 200 P is extravagant. But it's not like Pokedenziens have much disposable income, anyway. If they did, maybe your mom and rival's houses wouldn't be the only ones with two floors and bedrooms.

In this case I think the anime is a better source as it is closer to RL than the games.
Also even little boys, at the very start of the game gives you at least 30 P, and as the game goes on you usually always get a couple of hundred P even from school boys. Please, think your arguments through before using them.

I do. And another point: why are they disposing of their income in trainer battles? Is it a sign that no one likes two story buildings?

And unless Pokemopolis is correct in the assumption that Ash and co are freeloaders, I think Pokemon Centers there are free as well.

It makes pokemon a fun video game. That's it.

And yes, I know, that takes the "fun" out of thinking up excuses, but lets be serious here. While it's one thing to joke about "so when do they take baths?" getting THIS in-depth is just a bit silly. If Pokemon operated like the real world, the game's wouldn't be fun anymore. You'd constantly have gym battles and training interrupted just so you can run off and earn more money to pay off pet bills and food and junk. It's just crazy. Making up a perfect world where everything's free and you can devote all your time to playing around is just SO much easier...

Criminal organizations have nothing to do whit communism.

A communist/utopian society should prevent crime, stop crime, and not provide a reason for crime. Something is wrong in Sinnoh if people are willing to have bowl cuts as part of their uniform.

Well the Pokeworlds communism works better than any RL countries. Communistic, capitalistic or anything else.

It still somehow provides a reason for people to turn on society, the government, and even nature. Case in point: Team Galactic.

Have you ever heard of a little thing called human traits? There will always be people that want to change how things works, there will always be people that want to be in control. And people usually feel that their are special if their part of a mysterious, exclusive organization.
And Cyrus hate emotions, which is his reason to do what he does. He just hate what makes a human human. There will always be people that are against everything even though it's better for most people, and everyone "normal" likes it the way it is. You can't just look them in either. Not before they have done anything anyway.

A utopian society means that everyone is equal. This is clearly not the case. And we know capitalism is present in the Pokemon world.

Maybe in your Utopia, all people have different opinions on what a Utopia is, and I never said Pokeworld was an Utopia, I said that they have communism that works.
