Am I the only one who's noticed that in most of the Bulbapedia articles on locations with catchable pokemon the percent chances of encountering the listed pokemon never add up to exactly 100%? For example, in HGSS, Route 46 is listed with the following pokemon:

Morning time
Geodude 40%
Rattata 25%

Total= 65% Huh?

Or, Mt. Coronet:

Pokemon that can be seen at all times total= 80%

Pokemon that can be seen during the day total= 35%

Pokemon that can be seen during the night total = 5%

None of the numbers add up. I've yet to see a 4th gen area page that didn't have some kind of numerical problem like this. What's the deal? Or am I reading these pages wrong?

If you see a problem FIX IT, it's a Wiki. If you're not sure go on the talk page and discuss it.

I'm not talking about a problem, I'm talking about a lot of problems of a similar general kind. And how do I fix them exactly? I don't even own the games, much less have every single area's pokemon abundance data memorized.

Jesus Christ, I know how a wiki works. Read my previous message; I don't have the information needed for me to fix the errors myself. And putting a message on the talk page won't help because it's not a single page, it is a large number of pages. Which is what I said in my initial post. Please stop antagonizing me, other contributors might be interested in knowing about widespread errors throughout the project.

Ok, it sounded like you were being a smartass, what with the ALL CAPS SCREAMING and the condescending pedantry. Anyway, sorry. I am concerned about the widespread abundance data errors, though. Can someone check those out.

in the case of Route 46, yes there was an error, but Mt. Coronet, and presumably, a number of other locations, are fine. how the "morning/day/night" works is that when you see "all times" like in Coronet, those numbers do not change at any time of day, meaning the remaining percentage is left to change by itself. so in Coronet, 95% of the encounter doesnt change, basically.

It's somewhat of a convoluted system. Don't worry, we'll be revamping it soon.

Are you sure there isn't an error there? There's a total of 80% accounted for under the all times heading but the morning time adds 35%, and the day and night times only add 5% each. I can't find any combination of those numbers that add up to 100%.

As a long time reader, let me express my thanks. Bulbapedia's a great resource but the system in place now is confusing. At least to me, anyway. :P

hmmm, youre right. guess i slipped over it too fast. ill have to look into that.

Personally I find the system understandable, but it is nice to to know that we're getting a revamp.
