I just noticed that three volumes of Pokemon Advanced episodes are now up on iTunes for purchase, but have redone cover art with 'Pokemon the Series - Ruby and Sapphire' as the title of the show.

Obviously this fits with the current season being called 'Pokemon the Series XY', as well as making it more obvious what the series is about, now that they are using it for nostalgia along with the game remakes. They haven't changed the opening or anything the use the logo, so it's just the cover that has the other name.

I wonder what they will call the Battle Frontier episodes once they get around to there? Presumably given three volumes are up, they'll just release one additional volume each time the XY series gets to a new set of 12 episodes.

I was wondering when the other seasons might start going up. Any idea what the picture quality is like?

I do like the cover image and the colored Ruby and Sapphire part of the title actually looks pretty nice. According to Serebii, Advanced Challenge will be available on October 13th, Advanced Battle on October 27th and Battle Frontier on November 10th. I've been hoping for at least the Advanced seasons to be re-released for a long time. Most of the Advanced Challenge and Advanced Battle DVDs are either expensive or not available due to being out of print. I would have preferred season box sets, but iTunes releases works too and makes the whole series available much sooner than if they went with DVD releases.

I already have Pokemon Advance in the two DVD boxsets, so there's no need for me to buy it on iTunes, although I guess it's a good option to have in case any of the DVDs stop working. I have the first two Advanced Challenge DVDs, but I'll still end up buying the whole Advanced Challenge season just to own the complete season in some format. I'm not sure if I'll end up buying the Battle Frontier season since I think I can still find the two DVD boxsets at good prices, but I'll consider that after going through Advanced Challenged/Battle.

Looks like you're right-AC went up yesterday. Amazon Instant actually just got pretty much all of AG, however.

I could see Battle Frontier either getting named Pokémon The Series: Emerald (because the BF is Emerald-exclusive) or maybe even FireRed and LeafGreen because Ash went back to Kanto. That could make a major hole in naming the seasons, though. Lyra wasn't around for a season (otherwise that volume or volumes could be called The Series: Heart and Soul or something) and we're definitely not going back to Hoenn, so we're not getting The Series: Alpha and Omega.

And then we have the Decolora and Orange arcs. Neither one is based on a game, so unless they all of a sudden decide to name Orange "The Series: Yellow" and Decolora something ridiculous, then IDEK....

I hope they do Original Series, DP, and BW

XY is the current one, and RSE is getting remade. Only reason why they were the first ones. :D I'm sure the others will soon follow. I'm still waiting for the Pokémon MOVIES. I also hope we get Pokémon Chronicles as its own little mini-series. And the 10th anniversary Mirage Pokémon Special. There's a lot of stuff we need up on the iTunes Store tbh

I grabbed the first episode just to look at that, and looks basically the same as my R4 DVD release does. iTunes and R4 DVD image gallery.

The DVD is much crisper and vibrantly colored, but beggars can't be choosers. Most fans can't find these boxsets at all (took me FOREVER to get Kanto + Orange on DVD) so iTunes quality is better than nothing.

I just hope that aside from the actual "banned" episodes, no episodes are skipped. The boxsets outside of Australia/New Zealand skipped quite a lot, especially in Johto...
