Johto: A vast, enriching, wondrous region that borders the Kanto region. Today was a special day for many trainers. It was the day that they would start their Pokemon Journey. They were all sent to Newbark Town, and to receive their Pokemon from Professor Elm. Currently, he had just handed some starter Pokemon out to a batch of trainers, and was awaiting the new batch to arrive. Sighing, he wiped the sweat from his forehead as his Espeon sat patiently beside him.

"Athena, I always forget how tiring days like this can be," The man spoke to his partner, "But we should be glad that we have a chance to be a part of the beginning of the journeys these people will take. It's rewarding that we can give them what they need to start, right?" Athena nodded as she used her psychic powers to open the door, her tail swishing slightly due to sensing someone approaching.

Sixteen year old Melody Brooks had arrived from the Hoenn region, rather nervous to start her new Pokemon journey. She wasn't sure what starter she would get or how she would even do in terms of battling the gym leaders. Would she make her adoptive father proud? She wondered what her grandfather would say if he were still alive. Many thoughts grazed her mind as she was coming upon the entrance of the lab. For a brief moment, she took a deep breath and stopped. She had to take this all in. Even though she was usually outgoing and free spirited, she was anything but at this point. Last minute jitters had her tugging on the fabric of her white sundress before running her fingers through her curly, magenta hair. It took a few moments before she regained her composure. With a determined facade, she walked into the lab, uncertain of what would lie ahead of her.

Stepping into Newbark Town, Courtney DelaCreme gazed in bewilderment. Her initial thoughts were largely considering the change in scenery around her. For her first, ever time out of her hometown, after convincing her parents; a pair of jewelers who ran their own business, she had made a significant decision in opting to venture not just different cities in her home region, but a completely new region altogether. Thoughts ranged from the change in the weather that differed from the sunny island of Mossdeep in Hoenn, especially the slight breeze that would certainly annoy her sooner than later, to the abundance of natural features such as mountains that were dotted around as far as her eyes could see.

However, such observations were quickly replaced by Courtney’s imminent arrival at, what seemed to be, a laboratory.

“This looks like the place … Professor Elm I think his name was,” pondered Courtney under her breath as she stood for a couple minutes outside the building. She now contemplated what her first Pokémon was going to be and whether becoming a Trainer was the correct thing to do. What seemed like minutes, but in reality was seconds, Courtney stood frozen in fear of the unknown. Being out of Mossdeep for the first time and actually off the boat into Johto had a greater impact than she had thought. It took her to remember her parents’ best wishes and the original spark she had which ignited her want to move out and explore in order to calm her nerves.

“Okay, let’s do this Courtney” she whispered to herself as a little motivation, after which she stepped anxiously into Professor Elm’s lab.

The hot-humid climate of Newbark town always fascinated Yash and Cheryl. They woke up that morning knowing that it would be a new beginning for them. Spending the night at the Professor's house last night, they were ready for this.

Coming up to the front door of Professor Elm's lab wasn't a new thing for Yash and Cheryl. But the motive behind coming here was definitely a new one. Today was the day they were gonna start officially as trainers. Yash had only one thing in his mind. He had gone through a lot, but now he had to start a new life and he had prepared himself for it. His goal was clear before him- To be a Master Dragon-type trainer. And he was confident about it. He was always fascinated by Dragon types. He knew how tough it is to raise Dragon types but he was not gonna give up. "C'mon. You gotta do it." He thought to himself and he clenched his jacket. He had made sure that he had his book with him. He knew he was gonna do this, no matter what. He had his regular black t-shirt-black jacket-black jeans and white and black sneakers outfit on.

Cheryl was very much excited about this moment. She was gonna get her first Pokémon. And with Yash on her side, she wasn't afraid of anything and even more excited. She would finally get to spend most of her time with him. But that wasn't her prime motive. She wanted to be a Top Co-ordinator. She was always fascinated by contests and ribbons. Especially the ones her elder sister had. Now far from her family and home, which was in Olivine, she was ready to start her own journey, here in Newbark Town, the place of new beginnings. Now she had grown up. "Lets do this.",she said to Yash. She knew he wouldn't answer. His introvert character always fascinated her in some way. She ran her fingers from her long beautiful blonde hair and adjusted her straw hat. She made sure that her outfit was proper- her regular t-shirt and mini skirt and her signature knee length black zipper boots.

Both the sixteen year olds looked at each other and then stepped inside the door, with Cheryl adjusting her looks and clenching the straps of her back pack.

Tyler let out a loud yawn, lifting his headband from around his eyes and unto his forehead as he looked out the window of the bus he had been riding on. After traveling to Goldenrod from his hometown of Olivine he had taken multiple bus rides from that city up to the small town where he would finally receive his first Pokemon. He clutched onto his back, doing a final review of everything he had carried with himself, just basic supplies that he figured he would need to rely on during his journey.

He looked out the window of the bus as they went into the small town, looking out at it in amazement, a bright smile on his face. Olivine felt like a city that was a lot like Newbark though in a bigger scale, as thus he felt a sort of homely atmosphere around him. "Well this is nice now isn't it?" he commented with a bright smile as he made his way out of the bus. After making his way through the station and into the town itself he took out his Pokegear, looking down at it in order to guide himself through the town. 'The lab isn't too far off from this place last time I checked," he muttered to himself, hoping that he was following the right directions.

He looked on ahead, smiling when he saw the lab not too far from where he was. As he made his way towards the entrance he stared at it for a moment, scratching the back of his head in thought. He felt that maybe he should think back on his life or prepare for what was to come, but instead he just felt calm and curious. "Well, no point in delaying it," he shrugged before entering the lab.

So, this is the famous Johto Region. Barbara thought while she walked to the pokemon lab. She studied her surroundings from her black avioter sunglasses. The region west of Kanto and Mt. Silver...interesting. She put both hands into her jean pockets and took one out to pop some bubble gum into her mouth before returning that hand into the empty jean pocket. She was now nearing the entrance. Well, this is it - a new region, a new leaf to turn over and a fresh start to this chapter of my life...and this time I'm not going to mess it up.

With that, she opened the door and walked in to see other people, trainers to be, she thought standing inside. Looks like I'm not the only one, she thought, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed casually, her body facing the other trainers. Still chewing the piece of bubblegum in her mouth, Barbara studied the trainers to be from her sunglasses.

Barbara being a social person found the silence from the others deafening - perhaps they were nervous. Trying to be social, Barbara broke the silence and said to no one in particular, "So I presume you're all here for your starters?" She ended the question by blowing an impressively large bubble from her bubblegum before deflating it into her mouth and chewing again.

Route 29 was usually low on traffic, especially so early on in the day. This fact had never been so apparent to Vinny until today, when he found himself dashing through the small route all alone. He was quite obviously excited for today, with a large smirk on his face and the urgency of his running. Hopping over a ledge, he could definitely see New Bark Town dead ahead. He had never been to this small town despite it being so close to his current residence, but once he saw the large windmills and the atmosphere of the settlement, he had kind of wished he had visited more often to relax. Vinny shook his head, snapping back into reality from his daydreaming. He was just as anxious as others to get his new Pokémon, and distracting himself eased that tension. Vinny barely stopped in front of Professor Elm's lab, rushing inside only to bump right into another trainer.

"Oop, sorry! Guess I should've slowed down," Vinny apologetically said. The person in question was a brown-haired, brown-eyed girl, and from what he could tell, she had just come in before him. There were a lot of other trainers filling the lab as well, all waiting to get their own Pokémon. Vinny silently lamented at the idea of being behind all these people in line to get his own Pokémon. Waiting wasn't his strong suit.

'Great, I should have come earlier,' he thought.

Barbara chuckled and propped her sunglasses onto the top of her head so she could look at the eager trainer. "Hey, man it's cool, your starter isn't going anywhere soon." Barbara smiled politely at him and decided to introduce herself. "Barbara Barnes but most people call me Bobbi."

A smile appeared on Vinny's face once the person he ran into introduced herself. Happy that there were no hard feelings, he did the same. "I'm Vincent, but most people just call me Vinny. Glad that everything's cool!" Vinny paused for a moment, looking around, "There are a lot more people here than I imagined there'd be!"

Barbara looked up at the other trainers before her chocolate coloured eyes lay on Vincent's. "Yeah, there are. I didn't think so many people would come in one day, let alone today! What are the odds?" She replied.

In the outskirts of New Bark Town is a hill covered with trees and flowers, and bathed in sunlight; A perfect spot to take a nap. It was here that Laguna Pavel, a young man who is obsessed with flight and Flying Pokémon, was taking a nap, sprawled out in the warming rays of the sun.

"Laguna... I knew you'd be here!"

Alice Loxaerion, a flower selling girl who lives next door to Laguna's house, approached the sleeping youth and prodded his belly with her feet gently. As the strange pressures on his belly wake him up, Laguna lets out a big yawn.

"Oh. Its you.... what do you want...?"

"You can't fall asleep again! Wake up..." She said in thick Johtonese accent. "We're supposed to see Professor Elm today, remember?"

"... oh. Right. Right. I remember." The boy jumped to his feet, then rubbed his eyes. Alice looked beautiful today. She was wearing a simple, white one piece dress and a red ribbon on her hair, and Laguna was unsure whether that sweet scent that tickled his nose came from the colorful flowers she was carrying in her flower basket or from her perfume. The boy stared at her handmade flower basket. "... wait, you're not going to sell flowers to the professor, right?"

"No, of course not. I'm giving these flowers away. There will be a lot of other new trainers too. It's a good way to make friends, don't you think?"

"Hey, nice thinking. Okay, to the lab!"

Zach & Sophi were in their apartment, busy getting ready for their adventure. Zach, who had breakfast earlier, was busy preparing pancakes for Sophi.

When Sophi exited her bedroom, she was greeted with fresh pancakes, which smelled delicious.

"All for me?" She asked Zach.

"Well, mostly. We'll share," Zach replied as the two began eating.

After they finished their stacks of pancakes, they put their shoes on (or in Soohi's case, flip-flops) and headed outside. Zach had the keys to their apartment, so he locked the door.

As Zach stated before, Elm's lab is right near them, so it didn't take too long to get there. At the front door of the building, Zach said to Sophi, "Alright, let's go, honey." He opened the door and motioned for Sophi to enter first as he followed her in.

Immediately, they noticed that there was a decent number of other trainers in the building, possibly also there for their starters. They definitely weren't expecting this many people. Still, they moved close to where everyone else was.

Violet ran, and well ran down the road. She was just too excited. Today was the day that she had waited for for years. And she was just too happy about it. She couldn't wait until she reached her destination so that she could finally begin the day. Finally start what she wanted to. Finally follow her dreams. Her boots hit the ground hard as she used the force to move further with each stride. Her breathing was heavy, and her jeans made her legs hot, but she didn't care. Plus wearing her black ninja like top made her arms have a nice breeze. So she didn't mind the short breath, and other effects of the running. All she cared about was arriving. And as she passed the people looking at her like she was insane, she didn't care. Soon. Soon she would arrive. And soon she did arrive. A huge grin on her face as she smiled at the lab, entering, looking for the professor as well as her partner. Soon she would be with him and then they would be on the road to their dreams. Soon.

"Uh oh! Im gonna be so late!" Dian said aloud to himself while running down route 29, causing a few onlookers to stare at him. All their pokemon looked so cool! Even the weakest ones! Dian thought to himself.

By the time he had brushed past the trainers leaving the lab, he collapsed and lay still for a couple of seconds, then stood up gasping, "Just a stitch Professor!"

"Idiot!" Fully dressed and ready to head for the lab, Summer Snow instead found herself in her brother's room, screaming at him to wake up. She frowned, knowing her brother was a deep sleeper. "Get up you lazy piece of shit!" She shouted again, louder now. This had the desired result, as her brother began to stir.

"Shit Summer... what time is it?" Vance murmured, rubbing his eyes as he sat up, coming face to face with his sister.

"We were supposed to leave..." Summer looked at her watch. "Now."

"Give me ten minutes sis... and put the coffee on?" Vance asked her hopefully.

"Already did." Summer said with a smile, handing her brother a fresh mug.

"You really are the best sis." Vance said gratefully.

"I know I am, I know." Summer was grinning as she left the room.

Eleven minutes later, Vance slid down the bannister, meeting Summer in the foyer. Their mother was there to say goodbye. "You're both going to do great." She said with a smile, kissing both her children on the cheek before they headed out. With smiles, Vance and Summer began their adventure together, heading for the lab to receive their starters.

Barbara smirked. "It sure does and I can't wait to win." She replied to Tyler in a determined yet mischievous voice. "Sooo, what's your name?" She asked him.

Courtney looked around to see the lab quickly begin to fill up with other starting trainers, all around her age probably. She had turned around after hearing a female with aviator sunglasses shouting out something which she couldn't catch quick enough, only to see the girl blow up a remarkably large bubble from the chewing gum she chewed. After hearing others interact to the girl, Courtney decided that the wait seemed like it would be a while and decided to walk over closer to other people.

"Hi, I'm Courtney DelaCreme, nice to meet you all" announced Courtney hesitantly, stroking her browny-blonde hair with her left arm whilst standing coy, her left leg behind her right as though she was in some ballet stance.

When the lab began to fill up with future trainers once again, Professor Elm took a deep breath before looking to his Espeon.

"Let's do this," he said to his assistant for the day before turning to the students. "Hello, everyone. Welcome to my lab, and as you know, today is a very important day. Today is the day in which you'll receive your starter Pokemon, and starting your journey as a Pokemon Trainer. This Pokemon will be your partner and a vital part of your life. It will be the stepping stone needed to go after your goals. Before I continue on, you'll be provided with a Pokedex, and five Pokeballs to start. Athena, would you do the honors and give out the Pokedexes?" Nodding, Athena's ruby glowed a deep blue before the array of Pokedexes began to levitate, and it wouldn't be long before each person had one in their hand. This same event occured shortly afterwards, but Pokeballs were given out instead. Then the Espeon had finished her duty, she pranced over to the table where the starters were being held, inside their own Pokeballs.

"So, how do we decide what we're picking?" Melody asked as she looked at the table in which Athena was standing near.

"It's rather simple. You just pick the one you'd like best." Professor Elm, "How about you go first?"

"Oh, um, okay..." Melody replied, "How do I know what's inside?"

"There's a picture of the starter on top of the Pokeball. So, for example, if we had one with a Pikachu then a picture of a Pikachu would be on the Pokeball." Not really thinking the method was logical, she merely nodded and walked over to the table. Each Pokeball had a sticker on top, determining what Pokemon was inside. Aside from the starters, there were many other Pokemon that would easily be chosen. She originally had Totodile planned in her mind, but since there were other choices, she wasn't limiting herself. After looking around, her eyes turned to the Pokeball with Finneon. It seemed to be the most interesting of the group, so she decided to go with it.

"I'm picking the Finneon," she announced as she backed away from the table, and walking towards the back of the room, watching to see what the others had chosen.

"Alright, who is next?" Professor Elm spoke.

Barbara smiled politely at Courtney. "Barbara or Bobbi if you prefer it, right back at ya, Courtney."

Her attention returned to the professor and his assist and she she quickly put her pokedex in her bag and walked over to the table. Each pokemon looked interesting and rather strong, but there was one pokemon that stood out to her, one she didn't know.

"How about I get...helicopter, sorry Helioptile." She said, a slight blush on her face as she returned to the spot and position she was originally in.

Violet's face paled slightly as she saw the table of pokeballs. She hoped the professor didn't put her baby on there. And of course she wasn't going to wait. She had waited patiently for years. So with a deep breath she began to walk up to the professor to make sure he wasn't about to accidentally give away her partner, when she heard noise. Loud noise, and then a door most likely being busted as a cry rang out from a hallway, and something running was coming. Next thing she knew she had the wind knocked out of her and her back hurting from hitting the tile floor. Most of all was a wet face. "I missed you too," she said while gasping for breath, and trying to prevent her face from becoming any wetter. Despite all this however, she had a grin plastered on her face. Here was her baby. A small aerodactyl who was just as excited to see her as she was him. After a good few moments of the love attack, she managed to get him off and to stand up. However she made sure to give him affection to calm him.
